It is definitely not a choice for Muslim women to wear a hijab. It is required. However, she is not required to cover her mouth. The hijab must cover her hair and neck. Therefore, to say there is nothing wrong with banning the hijab from Muslim women and not allowing them to wear it in public places like the bank or school is ridiculous. There is nothing dangerous about a Muslim women wearing a hijab teaching a class or working at a bank. All Muslims are not terrorists, so to say or think they are is IGNORANT!
Reem, Where in the Quran does it say wearing the Hijab is required?
If it wasn't required why do you think so many Muslim women wear it?? Women are not pressured or forced to wear the hijab because the desire to do right must come within oneself; however, wearing the hijab and covering up is a huge part of the religion and is encouraged immensely.
Reem, they wear it because they have a simple choice of getting beaten or putting it on. Mohamed didn't advocate hijab, he couldn't because all his money came from his wife.

I have been rifling through the posts on this blog and have noticed a very interesting and recurring pattern.
The posts which congratulate the original blogs are overwhelmingly hateful, based on emotion rather than reason and contain little more than unsubstantiated insults directed at whoever Bernie happens to have it in for for that day.
The posts which challenge and question the blogs are intelligently written, do not include swearwords directed at anybody and are overwhelmingly rational and reasonable.

What is wrong with everyone! War mongering is not the answer. I understand that it is easy for people to be ethnocentric, but racism by anyone towards anyone is never acceptable. To actually wish harm on another is not right. We are all humans.

Katie -Lee ann, I do wish enlightenment for Muslims, but for a Muslim to gain enlightenment, and here I assume you mean some notions of Christian Charity or some such, that would require their apostasy, and as you know such a crime in Islam is punishable by death. SO whether I wish them harm or enlightenment the result will in the end be the same: their destruction.

Perhaps if you answer NO to all of the above then it is you who needs to be enlighten. And if this is the case get out from behind the computer and actually meet some muslim people. You will find that they are very warm polite people.

In Turkey muslim women are actually campaigning to wear the hijab.

I have known a number of Muslims over the years. The first one I met was in the mid-60's. He was invited to speak at our school and he said all sorts of appallingly ignorant and intolerant things. The ones I met in college weren't much better, and they quickly developed a reputation for treating women like trash. The ones I met in a work environment (all engineers) felt free to express astoundingly bigoted opinions, out of the blue, for no apparent reason. So, yes, I have known a good number of Muslims, but no, sorry, they have taught be to be suspicious of Muslims.

Just to be clear. I do not want any American Muslims to be harmed, injured, spit upon or even harassed. I just want them deported and all future Muslim immigration to be stopped.
