my friend actually got sick after watching ichi the killer. and i've yet to finish it. it's the most weird disgusting violent thing i've ever seen. although the title sequence (the name of the film rising in a pool of cum) is the best i've ever seen.
as for this movie "linda linda linda" from japan, i'd be curious about it. there's a band from the 80s from japan that had a song of that same title. Although with their accents it could really have been "rinda rinda rinda". they're called the Blue Hearts.
do you tink it's the reason the movie's called what it is?
I LOVE "Ichi The Killer" --- Actually, I love all of Miike's films. However, the most disgusting film he's ever made is VISITOR Q --- I think it goes much farther than it needs to, but full of some challenging ideas about the state of modern culture. ...or the decay of it.
I've seen all of the Asian films you've mentioned, but am very interested to hear what you think about CAPOTE!! Am dying to see that!!!!

mark: dunno much about Linda, but Y downloaded the song, so we've been listening to it. I'll have to check. and I was thoroughly appalled, disgusted and highly entertained by ichi the killer. somewhere, that barf bag is still around, and let me tell you, I bet it was used during the showing.

You liked GOZU even more than ICHI? Ooh, I'm impressed. I don't even know if I have favorites actually: AUDITION, THE HAPPINESS OF THE KATAKURIS, FU-DOH: THE NEXT GENERATION, CITY OF LOST SOULS, and BIRD PEOPLE OF CHINA are all quite good. There's probably something else, too, but I'm drawing a blank. Miike's one of my favorite directors. Have I told you how cool you are recently?
