You know how much I loathe dating. I recently told this guy that I wasn't really interested in getting involved with someone who was on the same path as me. I think I would prefer to meet someone on a different path.

...I might have said this to him just to be sort of passive aggressive cynical, but in a way, I like the idea of the surprises one might encounter with another who is totally different than me.

By the way, Cookie sounds like a total loser. You're better off!

You're right. As we get older, it becomes more and more difficult to meet people to share life with. That doesn't only apply to lovers either. Friendship is also more difficult. The thing I've found most difficult is to satisfy my need to surround myself with that kind of 'permanent' relationship - to build a family.

Ouch! Sounds like cookie was hurt. Still, I think the way he acted was rude, meaning to be vengeful maybe? That's a little quick-tempered.

Dating is hell. I have confidence in you though. It's a good sign if people think you're serious about finding someone, but only if it doesn't scare them off.

Oh well, it's all a game. I'm glad you're still talking to R. Maybe he has some good advice.
