I think the news coverage has changed in recent years. I seem to remember that the news/entertainment used to focus on the films, then the stars. But in the few minutes I watched the other night of coverage of the TIFF, it was all about "oooh Liam Neeson is in town....and he was at a movie".

Personally I blame those Entertainment Tonight-type shows: e-talk, StartTV etc. etc. They're pure star-fuck celebrity rags on tv. There's always been that (in the 50s and 60s it was magazines) but there was also somewhat serious journalism about the art these people produce.

Now it seems that instead of being abou the films or the music, or even the tv shows, it's about the stars and who they're fucking/fighting/marrying or what they're fucking/fighting/snorting. Oh and we think they make movies too.

I refer to Phillip as PSH now. I see him on the street a lot. I like his acting, but he has this incredibly ANNOYING way of speaking, though speaking of Reese, Ryan Phillipe, as hot as he may he, sounds like he has a constipated frog in his mouth. And not Chirac.
