I've learned through my years in the PTA that by listening to others - many were "wise Latinas" - to expand my understanding of issues. I've not always agreed, but it has made me comprehend tha arguments that I may oppose. And it has made me modify my stance in some manner, because sometimes I've agreed with all or a portion of their argument. Sometimes not, but it has helped me in either case pinpoint my argument.
Wasn't this the true purpose of free speech?

Well, I think we've established Mark Davis gets on my very last nerve. And, according to him, he's never wrong...he calls this "intellectual honesty." Dude, have you seen a picture of yourself with that Unibomber/serial rapist mustache?
But, I digress.
I don't like Sotomayor...not because of the "wise Latina" comment. I simply don't thinks she's the very best judical pick. Period. I believe there are myraid other more qualified judges.

Picking Sotomayor was certainly cynical enough -- can you believe it? A cynical Supreme Court nomination (or political appointment of any stripe, for that matter)?! Why I never!
However, in this case, cynicism rises to the level of sheer brilliance, or nefariousness, depending on your perspective. As predictably as wind-up toys, the Old Fusty White Men With Grey Hair In Their Ears, the very personifications of the GOP itself, make blustering irrelevant fools of themselves and simultaneously alienate the moderates they desperately need at this moment and Hispanics, the fastest-growing demographic in the nation, who happen to represent the GOP's best bet for the future, since they're
mostly cultural conservatives who vote Democrat because they heard "it's the party that cares about minorities."
Diagram that sentence. I dare you.

PS. As for Mark Davis, he's the kind of guy it would be funny to pitch eggs at his face. He'd get mad!

Can't believe I'm about to defend Mark Davis, but here goes.
In Mark's defense, he gets just about EVERYTHING wrong. So it's not like he only has it out for Latino judges.

I learned this about Mark Davis when he 'reviewed' Al Gore's movie 'An Inconvenient Truth' but did not actually see it. How did that work, I wondered.
Then I stopped and thought; An Oprah moment! (Envision a light bulb above my head flickering as I eat sushi chanting 'ah so'.) That's what they mean when they say someone is a 'reactionary'. It means they do not listen or learn, they merely 'react'.
Which as a man who has actually spent my life listening to women rather than merely reaction or even just responding to them has made me at odds with the 'normal' American male. But that's another post.
