I wouldn't say that Leppert is "weak and ineffectual." Quite the contrary. Leppert is intent on getting his way and furthering his own career, so he is taking steps to silence what little opposition he has. That the current council is composed mostly of sycophantic hacks isn't his doing. He's merely turning it to his advantage.

Leppert continues to favor the "you're either with us our against us" plan that his new Preston Hollow neighbor used for eight years.
I'm not saying it can't work, but it didn't go so well for W.

I just used the word sycophant this weekend! Excellent.
I didn't have a chance to respond because I was at the lakehouse, but your previous post about truthful bigotry? LOVE.

Angela Hunt seems to have brushed it aside: http://www.angelahunt.com/2009/0...ee-assignments/
Yet another reason why she's > Laura Miller. I hope she challenges Mayor Big Hands in the next election.

A Hunt / Leppart race would be great political theatre, but Hunt would be lucky to win 48 percent of the vote regardless of what would happen with the Trinity fiasco or other Leppart projects.
Leppert would raise more money, and he knows how to $upport leader$ in $outh Dalla$. (note to $elf: get appointed to a commi$$ion seat.) Hunt is the valedictorian of council politics. She is the smartest, most logical person in the room, but Dallas politics are typically run by the jocks or bullies. Overt brainiacs are the nerds.
What else would she win besides East Dallas? Not too much.

I am confused because according to Michael Davis' Dallas Progress, Hunt has what he described as a very important and meaningful assignment:
Ad Hoc Committee on Judicial Appointments
Chair: Angela Hunt
