Hi Nancy,
Very good job.
First the Jews were driven out of the Middle East before they returned to Israel, now the Chrisitans are leaving.
It's a hard road for religious minorities in Iraq.
Kuwait and Israel seem to offer the most religious freedom for minority groups.
The Kuwaiti government actually builds
churches.
And Israel is a democracy.

ChaldoAssyrians need to press for a small autonomous state in the Nineveh plain. I know you are an Iraqi, but I don't understand how you (or Miss Malek) can consider the Arabized Iraqis "brothers." Most of them are the genetic descendants of the original Aramean/Assyrian population, but they are beholden to Arab interests and their religion of Arab nationalism (Islam, if I need to be blunt)and that won't change unless they both become Christian and recognize their true identity. That being said turning either to the Arabs or the Kurds for a helping hand is a ticket to nowhere. Short of going into galutha the only other choice remaining to the Assyrians and also for their Aramaic Maronite cousins in Lebanon is pushing for separate ethnic enclaves. Israel did, but then again restoring the other native Middle Eastern population to their eternal homeland was part of God's plan. Perhaps the best that can be done is to pray that the Aramean/Assyrian people and their language will stay alive if even, God forbid in the diaspora until Jesus returns.

"You would think that the Iraqi Kurds would be more sympathetic towards us given that they themselves were an oppressed minority not too long ago"
1. Kurds are still an oppressed minority.
2. Chaldeans never treated Kurds as equals or friends and never cared about their suffering. indifference breeds apathy.
3. we need transnational and cross-ethnic solidarities:

Hi Nancy,
Hope all is going well for you in Medical School. It seems like everyone is busy these days. Hi Fay,
Middle Eastern women are beautiful.
I did a pictorial post on this.
I was shocked at how pretty they all are, because we are used to the stereotypical picture of them in Abbayas and so forth. So, we in the West, just have no clue. Makes me want to go to the Middle East.
Ever get any money, that's where I'm heading.
Fay and Nancy,
I would love to In T View Rosi, but it
gave me a migraine trying to find her contact information.

I think you should read the Bible and learn that your behavior is very un-Christian.
I'm Muslim and I am sympathetic to the plight of ChaldoAssyrians, and I would NOT in any way condone forced conversions because that goes against the faith.
Unlike you, I'm not going to judge other Chaldo-Assyrians based on the sentiments of just a few hateful buffoons.
Read the Bible and then post again.

Hi again Nancy.
I have read your account on Ms. Malek-Younan. I found it very interesting. I was looking since a long time in fact for live testimonies concerning the plight of the Assyrians (& also all the other minorities) in Iraq, of that occured in 1933 i.e. & also what happened to them under the Baath. U know that there were a systematic black-out on everything happening in Iraq especially the oppressive policies of the former regime. I have found your blog through Treasure of Baghdad's blog where i put some comments.
I thank u again for the effort u made.
BTW, I will send this piece u wrote around in my mailing list. I have more than 40 names in it...
