Comments for Perspectives

Gravatar Phil...exactly. Every conversation offers a choice and if we approach an individual or conversation with the mind set of confirming what we already know or think, then we will see what we expect to see. However it is a conversation of the deaf...and a great deal is missed along the way.

Gravatar Donna,

You are absolutely right. Facing our assumptions is critical to improving our ability to communicate. Within our assumptions lies our fears, hopes, loves, and perspective of life. It facinates me when I instruct how a few questions triggers an avalanche of conversations. I often pass on that "our preconceptions are closer to deception than reality". Which means that many times we start conversations with others then find a completely different person than we expected. If we are really open we will learn, if we are closed we will judge. Every conversation offers a choice.
