I don't know, Betty. I thought injured war hero, former senator and more recently Viagra pitchman (and perhaps soon-to-be Viagra policy advisor to John McCain) Bob Dole was a pretty shitty candidate, and even less likeable than McCain (though he would probably make a better president than McCain, which isn't saying much). Btw, what is it with people (like Dole)referring to themselves in the third person?
And even though Phil Gramm is an idiot, we are a nation of whiners.
This campaign gets more depressing by the day.
I forget where I read it, but I agree with it ... McCain reminds me of those guys that welcome you to WalMart - you know, wearing the blue smock and smelling vaguely of BenGay and shit.

I was just flabbergasted at the end of this week, because he fucked it up so bad -- fucked everything up so bad. The economy thing was at the top of my list, but there was plenty more. The Pittsburgh Steelers/Green Bay thing may actually -- as awful as this is -- flip Pennsylvania to Obama solidly.
We'll see.

One hears this a lot, but I don't get it. In what way is he likeable? In his choice of people he surrounds himself with? In his caustic put downs? In his open-mindedness? In his intellectual acumen? In his witty banter? In his empathy for others?
People often say he's the type of person you'd like to have a beer with, but I think five minutes at the bar with W would pretty much convince you that he isn't.
i don't get it either, Floridan. If Bush parked himself next to me at a bar, I think I'd bust a pool stick over his noggin in well under 5 minutes, Secret Service be damned. But apparently millions of our fellow citizens find the creep likable -- even now.
