Alex,

You really need to put a dollar in each pile. You'll be cutting yourself short if you don't. You'll see why after we get about a month into it. There is something very important about giving money away and having a general savings fund.

superb idea mate - I love the fact that you've gone for three piles here, and would love to join you on this quest. The one sticking point being that I'll struggle to save $3 a day - living in the UK means that dollars are hard to get hold of. On this basis, I'd love to feature this on my blog whereby it'll be the million pound saving club, and of course will have the links back in to your blog. All I'm after is your permission to do so of course!

I like it, this sounds great. Count me in. Except that I'll do it in euros instead of US dollars. It will only be 28,12% more but anyway, it just can't hurt me.

Count me in too! I have a hard time saving money, but I have grand dreams as well. I cant travel like I want to if I cant learn to save. I am flat broke until Friday but I scoured up $3 in quarters to go into savings for today. Tomorrow I will trade them for ones.
