What a great idea.
Let's brainstorm -- to build on top of it and maximize the impact of the money, one could gather the participiants' investing piles and cumulatively invest in some stock, fund, ... you get the idea.
Imagine 1.000 participiants and an investment capital that would grow by $1.000 / day.
Cheers

Alex,
That's certainly possible. The idea is that people even start thinking about investing. I'm willing to bet most people never had even $1 set aside for investing so they never even think about it.

I started this game a few days ago and I'm having so much fun with it. I even posted about it on my blog to get others interested. So many people (including me) find it really hard to save...but $3/day is nothing. Thanks for starting this!

Mom2Fur,
Great news. I'm glad you're promoting it on your blog. Just stick with it, it will be a lot fun by Xmas time when you have a good size give-a-way pot.

I've learned this lesson the hard way and not paying delivery fees for things and trying to haul it myself. It wasn't worth it after the cost of chiropractic and back rub ointments.

It all depends on the situation. We often have this discussion at business and investing forums I'm part of. What is king? Cash or cash flow? It depends on what you need. Even more important- knowing where to go to get it. OPM- maybe THAT is king?

I agree. Each situation is different. For the investing world, if you're an advanced investor, you certainly look and say "Hey I can burrow this at 3% and put it here and make 10%". Then you keep the difference.
Mostly I'm talking about personal finance and personal debt (which doesn't provide a return).
