I like having a little pile of cash as a 'cushion.' I only have $15 in savings right now, which won't even pay for gas for my car...but it'll get there. Meantime, if I need a few groceries, I've got the cash on hand. That is, extras like milk or bread beyond my usual weekly shopping. Oh...and this whole thing has been good for recycling cans and bottles, too. I throw them into a bin outside and think 'every 20 cans is a dollar!' (Frankly, I think we should get at least 8 cents for those big bottles.)

Actually, I'm someone who puts all my groceries on the credit card, but that's only because the price is the same no matter how I pay for it, and with the credit card, I get 1% back. I do pay off the credit card religiously though, often 2-3 times a month, so there is never any risk of carrying a balance.
