I couldn't believe the news when I saw it. I'm suprised there wasn't a bunch of liberals saying it was all just a media ploy for the pres to get his ratings up. Oh...wait there was. Luckily Al-Queda actually admitted it really was him not just a ploy. That shut up the liberals real quick.
Yeah I think things would be different in Somalia had Clinton not screwed the pooch there all those years ago. We have no resources to do anything in Somalia right now and to tell you the truth I don't really care if we ever do. Likewise, some people think we would have a chance to do something in Iran if someone were stupid enough to send our troops in there too. Our military is stressed to the max, we both know that. We would have extreme difficulty doing anything in Iran. They better use a little more diplomacy in that one.
I think we should finish F'ing Afghanistan.......finish Iraq......then get our boys home to regroup and retrain and decompress. Screw everyone else.
On Haditha......The thing most of these jack-asses don't understand is that incidents like those at Mai-Lai and Haditha have happened in every war since the dawn of time. IT'S WAR!!! People die. For people sitting here back at home to not empathize or understand the psyche of the combat soldier under stress and while in battle is a lack of respect for the same. War is brutal. War is an animal act. War brings out primitive instincts. Fight or flee. Fight or die. Kill or be killed. The adrenalin pushes you. Rage consumes you. This generation of warriors is not immune to primal instincts and urges.
Those marines lives are forever changed as are those who they slaughtered and those who survived the slaughter. They may be punished. They may be exonerated. Only time will tell. To send men into combat and expect them not to kill people is a fallacy.
Allahu Akbar.....the snake Zarqawi is dead!
See ya Saturday.

Anonymous,
For one, Blackhawk down. I am so happy to see that our government is paying the same people who slaughtered our guys. It makes me all warm and fuzzy inside, NOT.
Two, your insane diatribe on war and how purposely singling out civilians to kill is somehow on par with killing the enemy or even killing civilians accidentally is disgusting. Thankfully, the top guys in the military don't think like you. That is why Hagee is visiting all the Marines and reminding them about a thing called rules of engagement and war crimes. Not to mention that all the guys over there are being forced to take an ethics refresher course. If this type of action was "no big deal" like you claim, would the top brass be doing all of the things I just mentioned. If everyone thought like you, there would be no honor in the military. Thankfully, some people in the military take honor, integrity, and the rule of law seriously.

Swan, it figures that you would go off on a rant like usual. In no way did I say that killing civilians is "OK." Why do you try to spin peoples comments into something they're not? The meaning of the comment is that war is not nice and it changes people whether they like it or not. It affects people in ways that when they come home and try to get right again they wonder to themselves how they could have ever thought the things they thought and do the things they did while they were in combat.
I know you think you are an expert on everything, however, in this case I don't think you are. Your condescending attitude towards people really gets old after a while.
Also, the comment was directed at my brother as an extension of previous conversations that he and I have had.
Once again, nowhere in my comment did I say that killing civilians is a good thing. Killing civilians happens in war. I feel sorry for you if you don't understand that. Maybe you should take the time to read what was actually written instead of going off on a tangent.
I can tell you from personal experience that when my men killed civilians in combat, it was a rather disheartening event for all involved. Investigations were conducted and my men were cleared of wrongdoing. Policy was changed due to one particular incident. At no time did my men intentionally target civilians.
Have you ever been in the situation where you have had to tell your men to fire on people? Have you ever been in a situation where you witnessed war first hand and saw civilians and combatants killed? Do you understand even a little bit what combat stress is? Have you ever nearly died in combat several times over a short period of time? Do you know what it's like to have people try to kill you? I doubt you do.
Don't be so quick to judge. People like you are the reason why I seldom comment on this site. How you could so grossly misconstrue my comment really disgusts me.

"Once again, nowhere in my comment did I say that killing civilians is a good thing"
Maybe you should reread what I said because I never claimed you said it was a good thing. I said that you implied that killing civilians on purpose, which is what seems to have happened at Haditha, and killing them through normal combat are on par with each other. Which could easily be taken from your presvious comment with no spinning necessary.
Especially this comment:
"To send men into combat and expect them not to kill people is a fallacy."
What the hell else is that supposed to mean? Maybe people just expect them not to go house to house killing innocents. Just maybe that is what a lot of people have a problem with. I don't think you have anyone over here crying about the armed jihadist being killed. But, there damn sure is a problem when our troops are so blinded by rage that they go on a non-combat killing spree. I see the difference here. I don't think some people do though. Maybe you see a difference, but there are many, too many, people that think killing any Iraqi equates to killing the "enemy" without making any kind of distinction of whether they are the enemy or not.
Yes, it is a war and yes people will die, but I think that there are rules of engagement for a reason. To be against killing civilians is to be against killing at all, is a concept that doesn't make any sense to me. There are lines. And those lines seem to have been crossed. Maybe you were a better leader than whoever led the men in Haditha. You didn't have your guys go around and kill people for sport, I commend you for that. Not to mention the rumors that there was rampant drug use in that particular group.
Yes, war is ugly. It is especially ugly when it is a situation like Iraq. Basically, it is not a war. A war requires an army, a military, or at least a damn clear enemy. By sending us into somewhere to be referees in a civil war dispute, Bush has damned the military to these kinds of things. We are a defensive military. We are not the goddamn world police. We have no business being over there.
I don't blame the military, I blame the damn fools that put them in this situation. But, at some point there has to be some kind of accountability. Woohoo, Zarqawi is dead. Yippee! Whatever. Rumsfeld has already come out and said that this is not going to stop the violence in Iraq. There will never be a single military victory that will decisively win the war in Iraq. That sucks, but that is the reality of the situation.

No, I would prefer that someone actually go up to the fucker and blow his brains out. But, things like Haditha have nothing to do with Osama. Speaking of such things, Iraq has nothing to do with Osama.
