Isn't merely being a Gamecock enough to cause "ridicule, humiliation, mental anguish and emotional and physical distress, loss of reputation, goodwill and standing in the community"?
These frat boys are suing the wrong people!
(Not that I'm biased, or anything ... )

HAHA. Yes.
Of course I went to NC State and my wife went to Clemson. So for the weekend...ANY South Carolina school is subject to ridicule.

I guess what they're saying is that public sexist-racist behavior isn't sufficient fuel to be the objects of ridicule and humiliation.

We just saw the movie. These guys come off as fictional chauvinists in a fictional film anyway. Out of all of the times that I've been smashed, I never said anything like that, because frankly, alcohol loosens the inhibitions, it doesn't turn one into Mr. Hyde. Yeah, they're a bunch of racist, sexist, homophobic assholes who got drunk and said what they really think. What are they so defensive about now that it's too late? If they hadn't launched this stupid lawsuit, I would have just thought they were actors, saying the kind of garbage that I grew up hearing.
But they're not embarrassed by what they said; they're upset at how it looks after they got caught. Just like Mel Gibson and Tom Foley. Well...how long before they claim that they have a drinking problem? (A drinking and driving problem?)

Yeah but being from SC it has a little more of a comedic edge to it because that is the reputation of University of SC students (be that reputation earned or not.... obviously in this case earned).

I think they are sueing to get their hospital fees together. After they, and their whereabouts get known by the objects of their hostility and racism, they are dead meat.

I had no idea of the University of SC students' rep.
And now the news anchor is suing, saying that Borat's "Must make a urine" interview led her life into a downward spiral. Give me a break!
These people smelled money, signed a release, and got what they were paid for. Hey, when's the Borat sequel? I'd love to teach Borat belly dancing for a few hundred $$. (The movie's soundtrack rawks!) He can even throw a sack over my head for $1000.
