There's an inverse ratio between mass and surface area. Big people have comparatively less skin surface than smaller people. That makes us more thermally efficient. We stay warm because we lose less heat.

Buy her something warm and fluffy for Christmas. Do not suggest that she put on a few pounds. Remember, she knows where and when you'll be asleep.
