That's great news. Ask is my 7 y.o. daughter's favorite magazine. For those not in the know: it stands for Art and Science for Kids, and every issue is gorgeous and interesting.

Oh, I loved Cricket growing up. This is fantastic. Thanks for the heads-up!

Hey Everybuggy!

I love(d) Cricket too.

My mother saved all my Cricket mags (I started getting them in 1974 and finally cancelled my subscription in the early 80's). Now my kids have a whole shelf of them to browse through. Remember when Cricket was more like a book, less like a flimsy magazine? And man, I miss the art of Trina Schart Hyman...

i *loved* Cricket. (and those cute little cartoons, embedded in the margins of some pages were so neat to me!)

thanks for the heads up; i know what i'm getting my niece and nephew!

Thanks for the online site. I'll check it out.

Wow. This just goes to show how far ahead the US is of the UK (BBC's CBeebies website aside).

My other half is a children's author (www.themousehunter.com/blog since you ask!*) and went to a writer's event the other day where they were basically introducing the "IN-TER-NET" to a room full of bemused writers (apart from a couple like Al who already have blogs). Hop over to the US, and children's authors with neat websites are ten a penny.

*sorry - couldn't resist the plug! I hope you don't mind - it's coming out in the US as well)

I used to work for them.

Shinykatie, the Mouse Hunter?!? I can't believe you didn't plug it earlier. I won't tell PK he's missed the mouse-drawing contest, though.

Well if he gets any invites to US schools when it comes out over there, I'm sure he'd love nothing better than to do some mouse-drawing contests for you!

I'm very sad that I got rid of my collection of Cricket magazines from childhood when I graduated from high school and was cleaning out my bedroom so one of my sisters could move in.

Shinykatie, have him email me and tell me what the deal is with a US trip, and I'll see if I can get our school to invite him.

Will do!

Hi guys! I actually work for Cricket Magazine Group and we are planning to launch Kids Sites for all of our magazines. The first to come out will be Babybug (www.babybugmagkids.com), Ladybug ( www.ladybugmagkids.com ), Spider ( www.spidermagkids.com ), and Cricket ( www.cricketmagkids.com ) and they will launch May 1st. Our science line of kids websites will be available in September and the history line will be available shortly after! We are all really excited. Each magazine will have it's own site with different features. Kids can upload photos, videos, artwork, and can talk among their peers, post questions and reviews, and much, much more. Please check us out with your kids and if you have any questions, please feel free to email me asano@caruspub.com.
