Gravatar Hi there!

It took his death for everyone to stop and remember the genius that he showed to the world through his music...

He died not realizing that he was still immensely loved by the world...

Gravatar He does a good take on The Way You Make Me Feel. R.I.P. MJ.

Gravatar Maybe it's because of my generational difference or something, I'm not sure, but I really can't relate to everyone's sense of loss.

I'm in no way saying he wasn't an incredibly talented musician and offered a lot to the world in the way of music. I jam out to MJ myself. However, I can't believe how some people are reacting to his death. Does no one remember that he was an awful human being? Sure, the guy was messed up and a lot of that is due to having been in the spotlight his entire life, but some of the things he did were so disgusting and awful, I can't believe people are sort of writing that off in passing...

Gravatar Joanna, I'm curious, how old are you? If you don't want to tell exact age give me ballpark.

For me, there is a profound sense of loss on multiple levels. I have been a MJ fan since I was old enough to know what music was. I got to see him twice in concert and it's one of those things that you never forget. I think part of me is so hit by the loss because this is my generation's "The day the music died." NO ONE will ever be as big as MJ and I worry about where the state of music will go from here. So there's the loss of one of my favorite icons and the loss of a great musician.

As far as his personal life...well he did some "unwise" things (sharing a bed with a kid that's not yours...not a good look no matter what) but since we weren't there, no one but MJ, those actually present, and God know what really happened. And I find it interesting that the kid who accused MJ of molesting him recanted a few days ago. He said that his dad made him say those things because they were poor and they knew they would get paid if he lied. He also said he feels a great sense of remorse because he can now never tell MJ he's sorry. So all that to say, since we weren't there, we can't really say we know.

Gravatar I actually hadn't heard that the kid recanted his story, and if none of it is true, then I'll definitely take a different outlook on it. But I'd have to agree with you that those were some "unwise" decisioins, and in my mind, kind of creepy.

I'm 21, for the record I'm a huge NKOTB fan because my older sister (30's) was a huge fan, so when they disbanded I inherited all of the books, tapes, tshirts, and bedding haha. I was a little late in the game. However, MJ was never prevalent in our house, so I really only know his hits. I am a big fan of the Jackson 5 though!

Gravatar I find it so very symbolic that MJ died during "Black Music Month". That speaks so many volumes...
