Gravatar "Some suggest that young men are drawn away from college by the lure of jobs, especially in high technology, a pattern sometimes termed "Bill Gates syndrome".

- Just like couple of my friends. Well, some of them earned a lot though.

"While young women are drawn to learning and seek to do well in school, young men are more likely to see studying negatively and to dismiss schoolwork as "something for girls"."

- I have always thought in opposite, I started to doubt my sexual identity now. :D

Gravatar If this recruitment exercise of yours is in Malaysia, where you are now residing, it makes perfect sense. Two out of three university students in Malaysia are females.

Gravatar Yuki- some earn a lot, some others don't. I guess that's the nature of being an entrepreneur. On the girlie thing, I'm also on the opposite side... Maybe this is just the Americans...

50-50- that explains a lot. Thinking about it, we may have more females than males (except on the shopfloor). No wonder I enjoy working here...

Gravatar I think sex didn't mean anything. As long as you have a power and ability to do something, please go on. So, it isn't the "big thing" if more application from women than men sent. But it doesn't mean that men aren't smart enough.

Gravatar Sigh,
Less men. More bitchslappings.

Life sucks.

Gravatar I think most men are drawn into those uber challenging jobs like the army, or red cross or even the cheesy i-want-to-travel-and-see-the-world excuse before they're continuing their higher education. This decade is the first batch of these type of men (as i have carefully observed). So, there are less men this year and probably in the upcoming years, but in 3-4 years, upon their return from the aforementioned activities, there will be surplus of men in colleges and more men would apply for work in the following years.

Gravatar Kakahelmy- it is, and it is not, a big thing. Diversity is probably a good reason. Though at the end, life must go on, mustn't it?

Marisa- that's the other side of the argument...

Yodee- are you saying that men should "optimize" the next three years?
