Screw the Party... go straight to the media. ABC News seemed pretty open to the Foley incident -- though your best bet is through then NY tabloids... they'll hop on any "hard" story without blinking. The more sensational, the better.
This is a sincere request, Mike: you've mentioned a couple times here that "your work" with regards to Foley is now coming to fruition. I can understand the desire to toot one's own horn in pride for certain accomplishments, but did you have any part in the recent exposure of Foley's emails or IMs? If so, were you helpful in getting such evidence to the press, the FBI, either political party, etc?
I'm curious what your references actually mean, in part because that might infer there's more to offer.

Absolutely unbelievable! The NY Times is characterizing the Foley scandal in sympathetic, caring terms:
"He took pains to befriend the 16- and 17-year-old aides, several former pages said in interviews on Sunday. He chatted with them on the House floor, they said, sent handwritten notes and urged them to keep in touch when they left Washington for their hometowns."
This is outrageous. If it were a Democrat it would be described exactly how the criminal justice system defines this behavior: GROOMING OF POTENTIAL VICTIMS BY A PEDOPHILE.
The media is more than bending over backwards to avoid the implications of this scandal - yes including it's relevance to Bush's insistence on writing gay people out of the Constitution.
As people know, it's not always possible for me to disclose my role in some of the activities.
I can say this. I had the emails before they were on the net. Additionally, I had the additional emails, written by the page to a friend. The story was being written by a number of outlets and I provided additional information to reporters involved in the breaking of this story.
Was the central figure in reporting on Foley's latest scandal? Never said I was. Was my work on the case important to helping make sure it came out before the election? Yes.
Did I have any idea that the GOP leadership was engaged in a cover-up? Nope. Do I love the fact that they are trying to spin this as 'naughty emails?' Yup. because it shows how out of tought they are about queer closet cases.
DNC not posting Rogers comments? Not surprised since the DCCC is trying to purge their kook fringe from their websites for the upcoming election.
Interesting that our resident Joe McCarthy did not go after Mark Foley because of his adult fratenizing with House interns, but because of his voting record. The illicit emails and IMs are incidental for Roger's purpose.
Miami Herald reported that in 2005, HRC gave Mark Foley an 88 out of 100 score on gay issues, one of the highest-ranked HRC Republicans in Congress.
One would wonder how much Rogers would cover up the same type of accusations if this were a House Democrat going after underage pages.
I guess if if a gay Democrat goes after young boys, his voting record is his sheild, in Roger's eyes.

An idiot like "Pot and Kettle" popping off his ignorant mouth here in the comments or the Republican Party members sponsoring legislation at the last moment during election years and holding the voting open all night on top of already having denied the Democratic Party members more than twelve hours to read thousands of pages of legislation, all the while threatening those members with charges of treasonous, traitorous behavior if they don't vote affirmative for something they haven't had the opportunity to read. Maybe it's worse that the fat bastard Denny Hastert just made a press comment about how the page verbally molested by a member of the Republican Party isn't a page anymore and somehow implies that the page system is intact, secure, safe because of that. Maybe it's worse, as the trolls say, that Clinton molested a young intern (implying "virginity") and that's much, much worse than the chickenhawk Foley's chats with an underage page. I could go on, and list a few hundred other examples.

I'm confused- is this an issue for Blogactive because Foley is a closet case or because it turns out he's a pedophile? I seem to remember that Blogactive (and other sources) attempted to out Foley as a closeted gay man who voted for homophobic legislation (e.g. DOMA) and against gay-friendly issues.
I haven't seen any evidence that Foley was a gay man- turns out he was a pedophile who had a thing for teenage boys.
I don't agree with Mike on this one- the Foley issue is a dead-ender- he didn't commit any act other than sleazy IMs and his political career is over. This is McGreevey all over again- the issue there wasn't his homosexuality, the issue was that he put his boyfriend on the state payroll.
The DNC's winning issue is the failure (again) of the Republican leadership and the continuing stench of scandal, corruption, ethics and coverup that seems to be haunting the Republican Congressional leadership.

My request is essentially the same as ooofest's. I've heard some people say that you waited to release the info on Foley's case for political reasons. I didn't come here to give you a hard time and claim that you're a horrible person or anything of the sort. I can't make those claims because I don't know that any of them are true. I'm a rational minded adult and I want to hear your side of the story. So if possible, could you email me and elaborate on any of this any more?

Who the heck is comparing this to Bill and Monica? I think Gerry Studds is much more comparable- except the fact that Studds actually had sex with the lads, and didn't resign, and turned his back when he was being censured, and stayed in Congress for five more terms.
Foley's a scumbag, but at least he had the honor to resign. (Yep- you got what you wanted.) Unfortunately it doesn't look like he did anything he can be charged for. Unless you've been hiding something about actual physical contact, which would make me wonder even further- if you really cared about this, why didn't you protect the pages?

Hastert is being characterized as Foley's enabler. As far as that goes, the key question is whether Hastert or his office knew about obscene emails or IMs prior to last week. I still haven't seen any credible evidence to this effect. Does a reliable story claiming Hastert's knowledge of anything beyond the G-rated emails to the Louisiana page even exist? How about a link? Bueller? Anyone?
At the moment, it looks to me like Hastert is being smeared in an organized fake-but-accurate campaign.
Just to be clear: in the preceding post, I am looking for a link to a story that makes a credible claim that Hastert or someone in his office knew about sex-themed communications between Foley and pages or ex-pages prior to late last week, when the story broke.
Grave accusations like that should be based on facts--or at least likely facts. Not on simple dislike of somebody's politics or personality.

I am concerned as a Gay Liberationist that there is no voice as one. The professional gay community ie the HRC,NGLTF & all the rest of them put out pablum instead of hitting hard when the GOP, Dems make absurd remarks like Mark Foley's lawyer saying he's gay. HE IS NOT GAY. He may be homosexual, but he is not GAY. Gay is a self-cultured identity of noble, forthright people and in no way hidden & deceitful usurpers.
