It looks like the only benefit to haloscan is the trackback thing. Since I probably will never get a trackback, it was kind of useless. Also, there doesn't appear to be a 'verification' thing where you type the letters that appear in a picture. So I think I'm at the mercy of spambots now

There is a way to get them to come back- they're still there, you just can't see them. Unfortunately, I am clueless about this method. Which would be why I do not have Haloscan. But as for the spam- you cna block IP addresses, works for trolls too. If ever I figure it out, I'll switch...just can't bear not seeing those old comments. Stupid hidey buggers.

It worked but it's kind of ugly I'm going to take a crash course in javascript and see if I can't put in an if/then to not display old coments if there are none.
