We need to try to understand the wild fires, we can't just "put out" whatever we don't understand.
In an effort to try to bridge this gap, I've engaged in some "shuttle diplomacy" with these so-called "wild" fires.
Me: So, why is it that you think people are so angry with you?
Fire: *burns violently*
Me: I see. But what do you think is the first step toward a lasting peace between you and your detractors?
Fire: *burns violently*
Me: I understand completely. Do you feel disaffected by the Bush administration?
Fire: *burns violently*
Me: You've taken the words out of my mouth. Now, I understand that you're angry now, and that it's everyone's fault but your own, but is there anything at all we can do to accomidate you?
Fire: *engulfs me*
Me: I see! I would be angry with you, but I think I'd really be mad at the Bush administration. *walks off to get a job for CNN reporting in Iraq*

Anderson? Can you hear us?
Yes. It's smoky and cloudy.... I can hear you!
What's happening in the fire?
Well, it seems as if the firemen found twelve charred bodies.
What? You say twelve charred bodies?
Yes. Let me get Green Helmet over here.
..Mr. Green Helmet, what say you? What happened to char these bodies?
Pardon me, Cooper, but we have to take these to Lebanon.
What? But we're in Arizona and the bodies are ours.
We need stiffs that are standing up with arms wrapped around as in supplication.
What? These people are from The Friends of Trees. You can't take them.
We need them for our production movie: Below the Litani Blue Line.
But, but.... they are our bodies! New York? Are you getting this?
Yes, Anderson, but we've edited it out. Over.
New York? Ground Control to Major Bias?

I think you guys are right. When fighting these fires, we are using disproportionate force.
That's just not fair.

It isn't about religion anymore, it's almost about culture and society...Muslims (especially extremist Muslims) are very different in their day to day living...and that may be why the school in Cali went through with that experiment.
I think it was a great idea, it's important to build tolerance as well as understand different cultures, and traditions, as well as keep apart the stereotypical view of a Muslim vs. an actual practicing Muslim-especially in this day and age with such focus on terror.
Great blog

I just wonder how well such an idea would go over if they decided to have an 'act like a Christian' week in Deerborn, Michigan, or Mecca. Something tells me the answer is, 'not well at all'.
