just how do you profile Muslims? Do we have people sign a National ID card stating a religious affiliation? What happens to those who lie when filling out the form? Do we have the SS monitor mosques and start taking names? I am seriously curious as to just how we profile Muslims. can you clarify?
I have no idea how one would go about profiling muslims. Is that seriously something we want to do? It sounds frightening to me.
I'm all for statistical profiling though. Let's say 92% of terrorist activities in the last 10 years have been attempted/carried out by Uzbekistani nationals. were that true, 92% of the random searches would be done on Uzbekistani travelers. That would not be too difficult to pull off.
It would not be foolproof, but nothing is. It would doubtless catch plots better tan the current state, especially if you threw a few random hits in to throw off the terrorists from figuring out how the system works. At least until the NYT tells everyone how it works of course.
Being a statistic, it would be continuously honed to reflect the current state of terrorism. That sounds pretty reasonable, doesn't it?

I just got back from an airplane flight and saw many women, very young and very old, being patted down and going through the machine that blows on you.
How many terrorists have been stopped by patting people down, going through purses, taking away hair gel, etc.? Any? I've never heard of any.
How many terrorists have been stopped by electronic monitoring of phone calls? Quite a few.
Which method of preventing terrorism do the liberal activists want to stop? Of course. The one that works.
