gee... Thanks for that link. I just got twisted into a wad of fury. Good link, though. The articles about teaching got to me. I taught for twenty years, and I could write long articles on all the bad stuff about it, but I don't. The public school system is the largest enterprise in this country. It teaches every kid in this country. So, it's not going to be perfect no matter what. There is plenty wrong, and I could delineate it all. But I always come back to the one thing that makes or breaks a kid's education: The teacher.
The teachers who gripe and write these idiot stories blaming feminists or radicals or whatever need to leave the system and get another job. A good teacher works around all that crap, shuts the door to her classroom and gets to work. She is either inspiration or failure. But that is life. Simple, but true. If you are blessed with a good teacher, you soar. If you have a poor teacher, you learn the material on your own. There's enough blame to go around, but when it all settles, it settles right around your own shoulders.
Garibaldi griping about special ed classes? Yeah. He'd gripe if they didn't have them.
Oh well..... I could write for days, but I'll stop here. I do agree that PC has messed education up more than anything, ever. It is precisely why I walked away from a great career.

Sorry it got you angry Phoenix. The reason I thought it was interesting is that it helps explain why so many kids today are diagnosed with ADD, ADHD, or some type of autism.
Doubtless there are many children who need and benefit from the diagnosis, but I'm also sure there are many who are hurt by it. I'm just glad I went to school before Ritalin became commonplace. Otherwise I'm sure I'd have been on it.
I agree with you that the quality of teacher can make or break a student, but the water is muddied when the kid is on prescription medication.
I thought it was the boys who had cooties...*confused look heh
