First, I came here for your humor and wit and it looks like I will have to drop down to your next post for my fix.
Second, I'm surprised...
"Of course I support jihad" makes me believe the problem is larger than previously thought.
This is exactly the view of so many on the left, (Hey! Hey! ...quit balling up that fist to hit me!) and I KNOW you are not one of them! (See where I was REALLY heading?? ...be NICE, now!).
I had some pretty involved biz (legitimate and non-political) with Muslims in a Muslim country for several years. I can't describe to you my feelings of disappointment and the letdown that came with the realization that this is the STANDARD mindset, even amongst those I mistakenly once thought were true friends. But my thoughts truly pale in comparison to this gentleman's...
Not a funny post, Blogi, but it is a great one and very thought provoking from you, as always. Thank you.

Yeah sorry about the lack of humor or pictures. I've lost my ability to see humor for the moment. Hope it returns soon.
The unwritten part of my last post that most concerned me about that guy's jihad comment is that Dean Esmay just whined that Michelle Malkin implies that fundamentalist muslims are common, and then Michelle along with the entire staff of HotAir denied that she did so!
Which says possibly that two of our large conservative blogs don't in fact believe that there are that many muslims that think jihad is a reasonable idea? Someone's in denial, but which one?
I was under the impression that 10-15% of muslims were fundamentalists and needed to be killed or somehow marginalized if we are to again see peace in our lifetimes. But if even the moderates are pro-jihad... How do you change the minds of half a billion people?
What's the other alternative to changing their minds, since that seems unlikely... kill half a billion people? Appease them by following their rules as those very rules continue to erode our freedom? Blow up Medina and hint that Mecca is next if they continue with this madness?
None of these ideas are reasonable, but the only other course of action that I know of is not much more palatable.
We could continue to give Islam the finger when it tries to tell a non-muslim how to behave (as the Pope is half-heartedly doing) and brutally attack back when Islam attacks us(as the Israelis half-heartedly did with Hezbolla) and root out the worst elements by hand to give the good muslims a chance to be free (as America is half-heartedly doing in Iraq and Afghanistan), but that is a long and bloody road as well, and there is some indication that the radical muslims are willing to endure massive losses and keep coming for many years to come. And half-heartedness just makes the death toll larger in the end.
Of course I still think we can win it, and the West and islam will both be the beneficiaries, but that "Of course I support jihad" coming from a moderate muslim makes me think it's going to get a lot worse before it gets better.
I'm mildly depressed for non-world related reasons, so this comment may be less rosy than it should be. I'll be fine by Monday, so will probably edit it with a happier perspective then. We're taking off for a tiny vacation (35 minutes from home in a few minutes, so I hope everyone enjoys their weekend!
Sorry for the comment length.

I used to sing "Onward Christian Soldiers" in church. It's not so popular any more, but most Christians will tell you that it is a metaphor for striking out against evil in a non-violent way, the moral equivalent of war perhaps.
So "jihad" can mean different things to different people. It doesn't count unless you ask for definitions.

Big difference between singing "Onward Christian Soldiers" in church and supporting holy war. You are reading too little into this, jj. Jihad cannot be compared to opening a mission.

Geat comment, Kevin! Who cares if it was long, it was so good it should have been a POST!
The prospects you suggest are why I have been extremely negative about this for a long time. But more and more people on our side are coming to the same conclusions. Maybe that's a good thing.
Remember that a "typical" Jihad undertaking from their side is planned across one hundred years (or more). Their leaders and most of their followers will sacrifice anything to achieve victory. We have got to get beyond fighting amongst ourselves as to how hard we should fight (and still be fair) and what tactics we should perhaps shelve for concern over being too brutal. We can't have our civility and good manners if we are all dead.
