Jeez, sorry about the filesize of that newsweek cover. It became splotchy at anything under 80k, and I'm unsure why. |
lol@that Newsweek cover...hmmm toast is pizza..happy days are here again!.. |
Since I am a delicate flower, I will not be listening to Silverman, but I do love the magazine cover. Especially the good news on butter! Yippee! |
The Newsweek cover is really well done Blogi! Le and Angel were the first persons I thought of who should be directly warned when I saw the Silverman vid post. She's too crass for their ears! Is she a Republican??! |
Thanks all! Apologies for my sophomoric funny bone. I was thinking of le and Angel as well when I linked Sarah Silverman, DI |
Silverman was funny, but she's risking rioting! Oh, wait! No, that would be Muzlims. |
I like pears with a little bit of cream cheese and a dash of nutmeg! And a piece of white toast on the side, of course. |
lol@pears....go out runnin Kev!...and 1 and 2 and 3!..lmbooooooooooooo |
Splotchy? Some kind of jpeg artifact from compression? Compressing toast is bad unless you compress it hot with butter. |
Yeah DC it's really strange that the image had so many artifacts at such mild compression. I don't understand jpeg enough to know why it's worse with some images than others, but in this case it made the magazine cover look horribly fake. And there was toast on it! Can't have that |
Very nice Newsweek cover. Far better than the Time issue from way back when, which made her legs look disproportionately long. And, although I am pretty much Ann Coulter's biggest fan ever, I have to admit... the "Butter is better for you than exercise" takes the title of most awesome headline ever. |

Because Jpegs are by nature "lossy" and degrade, there are a few tricks to handling them when reducing the size, it kinda depends on the software you have available. Stepping down the physical size in one big chunk can be like stepping off a three-foot curb - if you could take it in smaller steps gradually it works better/retains image value better. |
I have always found the degradation thing to be prevalent with jpg's, too ...the incremental step down tip is a GREAT one, DC! I will try it and thanks for mentioning. |
