I say....each candidate is restricted to a live 24 hour telethon every 60 days the year preceding the election where they answer live all questions called in to them.....
That's it....
No ads....no other media contact.
The only other campaigning they would be allowed to do would be State Fairs and hanging out at PTA meetings and local beer joints.
Though your plan is ok too...

I like the S&S plan, too, although his age is showing ('PTA' has been 'PTO'... Power Take-Off??... for many years now. God, I miss Ward and June Cleaver!).
I'm just not big on the thumb-print thingy, Blogi. Perhaps if we could include the amendment of death by firing squad if the thumb-print is used for any other purpose (a very low cost add on if we handload the ammunition... can't call that pork).
Oh, and I want my name in there if you adopt my amendment... We could call it Blogi-Defiant Campaign Finance Reform.

So called election reform has done nothing but create a new layer of federal drones and raise costs.
Surely the lesson of lesson is to be learned is laissez bon temps rouler, not more regulation producing Carters, Clintons and Bushes?
I'm not exactly sure what the trouble was, George. But it doesn't feel like a democracy when rich individuals, corporations, or unions can use their cash to convince politicians to lie about what they plan to do in office, and then turn around and do only what their biggest donators wish.
No one is asking for more regulation. In fact I'm asking for much less. And much simpler.
One problem that I haven't worked out is, how would you stop say, George Soros from creating a media conglomerate that shills for Democrats and receives favor in payment? That's sorta what the left accuses FOXNews of, and we accuse the NYT, Globe, CNN, LAT, CBS and MSNBC of.
