Well, I'll say it.
I'm sad...

I was surprised that Eddie was given immunity with so few designers left.
I am stunned that Andrea took herself out this late in the game. She earned another pass, the judges handed it to her, but the pull of home was just too strong.

I think Andrea was very far out of her comfort zone. This was a stretch for a youngish mother use to the domestic life and not accustomed to being judged.
Preston's room was great. Nathan's was a solid second place. I liked elements of Eddie's room and I liked the sofa at the table. I've been contemplating doing that myself.

CJ - I have a cane back settee at my table and I love it. It added a touch of charm. I am so surprised that the judges were surprised by that. Of course, the sofa seat has to be as high as a standard chair - 18" or so - and should be pretty straight back. Eddie's seemed to fit this bill. Diminutive Simon didn't disappear when sitting there.

That's why I haven't done it yet. My table is antique and a little taller than average. I didn't think about the need for a straight back.

Andrea seemed like a nice person. But I think it's probably for the best that she left. I mean, for people who would give their eye-teeth to be in that competition, it must be maddening to hear her constant comment that she would rather be at home.

I'm continued to be surprise by the extents of Eddie's ego and this week proved that he didn't have much to back it up. I truly wonder what he thinks of himself as he's watching it now.

Been there, done that - so know what Andrea went through. There will be time down the road and she will be able to pursue her passions.

Kudos to Andrea for knowing when to say when. Seems like she's got her priorities in line, so she'll be fine.
Congrats to Preston again! His room was very chic and really showed off the chandelier.
I usually don't like to say I hate people but I HATE EDDIE. There, I feel better now.

I have a Hickory Chair Gillow settee that I pull up to my formal dining table when we have extra guests. It takes my dining room from predictable and traditional to eclectic and unexpected. So, yeah, I was surprised when the sofa surprised them.
I think they were baiting Eddie in the confessional to get him to say things ... but that's just me.

Eddie is the most entertaining thing about this show! Don't change a bit, Eddie - you rock!
Andrea is completely lovely and charming. She feels like a friend. Of all the designers on the show she is the one whom I would trust to decorate my home.

Did nobody notice how sloppy Nathan's paint job on that ridiculous looking rich girl's room was? The purple paint had dripped and slopped all over the white parts, and the green was very uneven, with white parts showing through, and he didn't want Preston to help him?
That guy's taste is all in his mouth, I don't get it. Oh, and he and Martha's do-boy should reign in the Preston hating, it comes across as desparate and jealous when directed at such a sweet guy.

We have a settee at our small dining table and LOVE it - especially at breakfast time.
I missed this weeks episide, sounds like the editors have up'd the drama.

I thought the judges were really off in their reactions to Andrea's dilemma. Margaret: "Get over yourself." She's presenting a conflict and emotions - that's uhm, a bad thing? Jonathan: "It's disrespectful to those who are working hard." And she hasn't been working hard? I really don't like when the critiques are boot-camp forced on this show.

I think so too. I think Eddie is taking some pretty tough critiques from the judges, more than we see after editing, and all his bragging talk is a reaction to having his ego battered.
I'm afraid I'd have trouble too being polite and nice to people who called me a granny and down graded me from designer to stylist. Still, all the "Martha, Martha, Martha" talk is hard to take.

First of all, Bravo, Bravo, Bravo to Andrea for going home. She said one of the best things I've heard on Bravo yet -- "I'm a mother first." You go girl. You are also a very talented designer!
Secondly, none of these rooms actually met the challenge, in my opinion. The idea was to design the room around the chandelier as a focal point. Preston's might have done it, but it was lost against that wallpaper (big mistake not to have put it against the black). Andrea's might have done it, but it was too busy. Ondine's definitely didn't do it, I just flat hated Eddie's, and Nathan -- brilliant room, and what chandelier? There was a chandelier in that room?
With regard to what the judges said to Andrea -- Margaret Russell was right, and Jonathan Adler needed to just shut up. Thank God for India -- who always provides the balance and the positive spin on everything.

Eddie, Top Design's Kenley, is being edited to be increasingly self-aggrandizing and narcissistic. The odd thing is that in many circles, the name "Martha Stewart", a corporate hack if there ever was one, is not exactly met with rapture, and yet, he persists in touting Her name.

Everyone is so sorry for Andrea and blah, blah, blah. I hate quitters. She joined the show knowing she would be away from home. If she didn't want to do it she should have let someone else who could be there and not take up the space. There are only 4 people left, how many more days could that be? I hope all future hopefuls for any reality show either join with the ability to stay or don't bother.

I felt bad for Andrea too, but I also wondered what she thought she was getting herself into. Has she ever seen a Bravo competition? Did she watch season one of Top Design? Reality TV is a bloodsport. You have to be able to handle mean people. If you can't, then don't go on the show.
Still, I really liked this episode. Even if I didn't really get Nathan's crazy wall, I still liked how bold and experimental his room was. I also continue to dislike Eddie, yet find him strangely fascinating. I wonder if part of his problem is that he really thinks he should have been asked to be a judge on the show, and resents that he's only a contestant.

Wow - Eddie must be wishing he had a time machine! Who is this "Martha" lady he keeps talking about? Cool that she has her own plane, right? Andrea probably shouldn't have made it this far, but I do think she almost got it right with this week's challenge, but the light almost disappeared against the wall paper. Preston's deisgn is super clean and very attractive, but I've seen it in every boutique hotel I've stayed in. Maybe he wants to be the head designer for Starwood or some other hotel group. His "boutique hotel" line reminds me of Las Vegas girl's "zen den" description for everything. Ondine - ?? Nathan seems to be the only one really pushing the envelope and defining his own style - I like his bold rooms. Go Nathan!
