Gravatar And you guys accuse us military types of glorifying violence.

Gravatar Seriously, Dave, do you think it's the same thing?

Actually, I think the strikers pretty much got their butts kicked, on a street violence level, anyway.

Gravatar Is there some difference between the military fighting for freedom and workers fighting for fair working conditions? Aren't they both standing up to oppression?

Gravatar Well, the strikers held their own in street fights until they agreed to a truce. They were unarmed in late July as were the goons for the Citizens Alliance - thugs hired by the business interests in town to beat up picketers.

The Minneapolis Police Department decided that was the opportune time to ambush picketers with shotguns and a Tommy Gun - shooting 67 people in an unprovoked attack - miraculously only killing two. Most were shot in the back while attempting to flee.

So, unless you think we're glorifying police violence, Mr. Thule, I'm not sure what your point is.

Gravatar I have a suggestion for you, Dave.

Why don't you go to that meeting. You might learn something. You have an open mind, right? You're willing to see if your opinion is correct or not?

Because your statement is as stupid as saying that if Chinese-Americans hold a rally to remember Tiananmen square they're glorifying violence.

Gravatar So I shouldn't show up in uniform on Thursday?

Gravatar Disco Stoo, not unless you want to be the spokesman for the '34 Minneapolis cops.

Gravatar I do not speak for the dead! I fight the dead!

Gravatar Why James, I thought all violence was evil, according to the crowd at this site.

Heck, using Spotty's 'perspective' on Iran from a few weeks ago, the Teamster strikes were irrelevant to the bigger issues of the day because the body count just wasn't high enough.

As for attending, thanks but I had 10 years of listening to the Union's struggles with corporations when I was a Teamster.

Gravatar It's the medical examiners who speak for the dead.

Gravatar Boy, has Dave fallen from the path of grace!

I think you misstate the point of the Iran posts, Dave. Principally, it is that the US can't seem to have anything to do with what is going on. The Iranian government is alread blaming the unrest on the foreign satans, including the US and very specifically the Brits.

There has, in fact, been some reporting out of Iran that the protests have become more domestic in their orientation and growing. And that's a good thing.

Gravatar Great point, Spot. So too since the Palestinians already believe the US is the great Satan, we clearly can't make demands of either side.
