Calling Obama, "boy" and accusing him of using race to further his goals could be construed as racist.
D Koski: Construe as you will, I have referred to many political candidates as "your boy". See my comments on Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer for a reference. However, Obama's recruitment of the black vote is bonifide racism. Or as we refer, the proverbial one-way street.
I think I am just echoing Spot: The splendid feature of the recent campaign events is the marginalization of the hostile right-wing. It’s a self-marginalization. It provides independents and centrist Republicans a good motivation to vote for Obama. I see a decade with the Republicans in the minority, but unlike the William Buckley, Jr. period when the GOP had ideas, the new period will be motivated by hatred and distain for education. If that’s the niche adamsmith wants, it’s his.
M: I don't see an end to it. You hit the Buckley thing nicely. David Brooks had a column about how the Palin-wing of the modern GOP hates ideas and I think it will last for quite some time. I personally think it's a perpetual motion machine.
Once you sell your soul to this sort of movement you can't suddenly expect to be let back in with the rest of the world, especially when your hatred of education is accompanied by a not-so-healthy sense of victim-hood.

He leaves us with a crumbling infrastructure, massive debt, an economy in shambles - under the Bush administration America grew more and more isolated - we have little understanding of the realities that are part of this whole world - we have fewer allies than ever before - we have a war that can't be won...we have a healthcare system that is far below the ones that exist in the rest of the developing world....yeah..yeah...we all feel so much more safe.

A question for Discordian Stooge, our resident expert on zombies: Is there anything in particular about those Zombies that eat only that part of the brain known as the "lizard brain?" Well, first off, I don't believe Sarah Palin is an actual zombie. If she were, I don't think she would be eligible for the Vice-Presidency.
There really isn't any difference in the area of the brain when it comes to zombies. They have no taste buds, and chomp pretty indiscriminately.
Mr. Sponge - here's the end I see: Time cures everything. The "Know Nothings" were a political party in the 19th century. People who today shout "terrorist" at McCain rallies would have fit in with that group. But, where are the Know Nothings today?
(Most Know Nothings joined to the Republican party after a few years, but I don't think that you can trace the Know Nothings to Sarah Palin, as the Republicans of that time nominated A. Lincoln.)

Spot - sure, I agree. But we are not the only country with idiots. Idiocy wanes, idiocy waxes,and it's at least partially beyond our control. I'll be happy if we strive to make an era that our children and grandchildren can look upon as we perhaps look at the New Deal and the Great Society.
