I always enjoyed re-arranging my bed room as a child. I remember wishing my parents would let me take it another stage and let me totally re-decorate by myself, paint the walls and everything.
This weekend I realized I might need to buy more shelves for my DVD collection. It's starting to take on a life of its own... hhmmm... That reminds me I wonder if my copy of 28 weeks later has arrived yet.

Have you ever gone through a stage where you just get rid of everything and have a "blank" house? I'm not sure why, but every once in a while I will put basically everything in storage and have nothing but empty walls. I once lived for months with no phone, no furniture except for a bed, no decorations. It was just me, a lamp, a cd player, my guitar, and a house built in 1899. I would dance around by myself at 2:00 in the morning, prancing, singing. I don't know if I was ever happier!
Then I ruin it by getting "stuff" and the cycle continues.
I'm not the only one, am I?

I totally need both a purge and a furniture re-design. I seem to be stuck in a rut. I think when the seasons change outside it seems to spur me on for a new look on the inside.

What a wonderful idea! We haven't rearranged the furniture in years. And it really makes a difference and freshens up the place. Thanks for the reminder! Hugs.

Hmm... am I the only one who likes it as is once I'm used it? maybe it's the dusting and vacuuming that puts me off!

Invader Stu, you're hard core! I don't remember ever wanting to move into the painting stage - not until now, anyway. Maybe it's because we had wallpaper.
Jarod, that's an interesting idea. I've never done it because I wouldn't want to have to pay for storage. So do you get more stuff and ruin it, or just put back the old stuff?
I definitely think it has to do with the change of seasons, mom of 3. I remember my favorite rearranging time was the beginning of fall, also when school started up again.
I hope it provides some entertainment, Dan. You could even do before and after photos on the blog!
True, ChickyBabe, not everyone likes the freakish level of cleaning that I do. I'm sure there are plenty of people who like to keep things in the original pattern, too - sure saves a lot of work!

I usually end up putting the old stuff back from out of the closet. My decorations consist of ancient artifacts, old documents, arrowheads, ancient pottery, etc. So they are truly old!

Sounds like a very interesting decorating scheme you have going on. I like your minimalist idea, though. Maybe someday - and maybe if I have a huge storage space in the basement.

DIY - Do It Yourself, refers to doing handyman stuff... Must be an Aussie/English thing.

Thanks, ChickyBabe. I found that one on acronym finder but wasn't sure. Makes sense!
