marbel, that's a good point! Although unfortunately often the people that make these comments are far from being embarrassed (even if their listeners are turning shades of red).

$\"Gravatar\"$ 1. The downside of being famous is that scandal tends to linger in a much more persistent manner than the positive bits.

2. It's colourfull because it's (usually) descriptive. When you call someone something like (e.g.) a gay-faced twat (just coming up with something, bear with me) that's taken some consideration. You not only try to come up with something that is suitably derisive but also something that is at least mildly entertaining for any others that might get to hear it. After all, what's the point in making someone look worse if it doesn't make you look better? By coming up with a curse that is not only insulting but also witty you might even get others to side with you by laughing! (which obviously is not very supportive to the person being scoffed)

Importantly; curses such as a casual \"asshole\" or \"fuck you\" are not colourful. They convey no deeper meaning or wit. They simply insult the cursee without the added advantage of making the curser look good and are as such of little more use than just shock value.

You now have me interested in the history of the term \"colorful.\" It seems to apply to both vulgarities and creative speech. You also have other uses like \"colorful history\" which is not equated with vulgarity, but rather events that are interesting or unusual.

Perhaps the solution is a UN resolution in which all swear words and racial slurs are mandated, by law, to be the color pink. You would be an outlaw, BbB, but a colorful outlaw. (oh boy)

For your writing utensil problem, I predict that someday we will have tiny cameras inplanted in our eyes that record everything we see and hear. Lost keys? Rewind the tape. Sudden writing urge? Talk away!
