Sometimes I like the fact that I only have a 5-second commute to my office (I work from home). Other times I quite miss my old commuting ways because it was time to catch up on things and, like you, it was psychological distance between work and home. One thing's for sure though: I don't miss the whole sardines-in-a-can thing at rush hour at all!
That's a good way to look at it. They say there is a weirdo in every train - I can never find him.
