I agree that the criticism of Inside Catholic is unwarranted given the range of voices that contribute to the site and the range of topics that the site covers.
At the same time, I have thought from the beginning that those who dismiss Vox Nova as "liberal" were giving short shrift to the diversity of opinions (as well as a focus on the full range of Catholic social teaching that has been missing from St. Blog's) represented there.
Finally, if Catholics in the Public Square is a "Republican" or a "McCain" blog, I somehow missed the marching orders memo.
The point is that all 3 of the blogs mentioned have individuals of differing political beliefs. Sure, some contributors are more partisan than others. Is Deal Hudson a partisan Republican? Clearly, yes. I've criticized some of his pro-McCain cheerleading (and I'm certainly not in political accord with some of the pro-McCain stuff that has been posted here at our own blog).
But I notice 2 differences: (1) Deal Hudson is quite upfront about his partisanship, unlike, say, Morning's Minion who is every bit as reflexively partisan but pretends to be above it all; and (2) the tone - as you point out, Mr. Hudson's graciousness toward those who disagree with him politically, especially toward commenters who have hurled invective and detraction at him in a most uncharitable fashion.
And, on the subject of tone, I must point out that Christopher is one of the most thoughtful and considerate bloggers I've ever encountered. I don't believe I've ever seen anything approaching vitriol ever come from the pen of Messr. Blosser. That may explain why Catholics in the Public Square isn't constantly embroiled in controversy.
That, and the fact that we don't have near the readership of Vox Nova or Inside Catholic.
