Franky Schaeffer completely, and clumsily, misrepresents what his father stood for in order to give cover to the pro-abortion political candidate he supports. The Bard said it better than I can: "How sharper than a serpent's tooth it is to have a thankless child."

When it comest to his own parents, it seems like every day Franky Shaeffer comes up with new and inventive ways to violate the 4th and 8th Commandments.

Or perhaps Franky has confused what it means to follow the Obamessiah with what Jesus said was required for following Him in Luke 14:26:
If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother ... he cannot be my disciple.

Both sides of any argument will strategically "massage" quotations for their own benefit. Schaeffer, Sr.'s complete statement above, however:
It is time we consciously realize that when any office commands what is contrary to God’s law it abrogates it’s authority. And our loyalty to the God who gave this law then requires that we make the appropriate response in that situation to such a tyrannical usurping of power.
shows his willingness, indeed his encouragement, to become a traitor to our nation in order to serve a certain deity. Our Constitution provides legal ways to change our nation's political structure without reference to God, or gods, or any supernatural beings, for that matter. If anyone choses to work outside that Constitutional framework his actions are treasonous, and were he to be successful, we'd no longer be living in the United States of America as created by our founding fathers.

Nice work, Christopher. I read a lot of Francis and Franky Schaeffer books whilst a young Evangelical, and benefited to varying degrees from them. But Franky's obsession with kicking at his deceased father and whining about the vast right-wing conspiracy is not only hysterically neurotic, it is downright embarrassing.

Frank hits it on the head. The religious right has a slave-owner mentality in everything BUT abortion. However, the religious right thinks that by being correct on the morality of abortion, they get a pass on all the other immoralty in social justice that they support.
Wake up and pray to God for wisdom.

Great article. It looks like a demon jumped into (or on to) Franky. As long as he holds on to dishonor of father, bitterness, the demon will continue to distort all he sees and will be very at home in Franky. How can he compare one who is ready to lay down his life for the innocent victims in the womb (his father), with one who is preaching hatred toward whites (Pastor Wright)? This is the kind of distoted perspective the enemy will offer Franky - knowing that he'll gobble it up - hook, line and sinker; hooked on the lie, lined up with falsehood and sinking quickly. This is really sad. "Father, show Franky, your precious son, to repent and be cleansed, freed from this bitterness. In Jesus' name."
