It's mostly blind optimism, but when I think of upset this season, I think ND over USC. Steedle | Email | Homepage | 06.29.05 - 12:16 pm | #

Steedle, I would weep for joy if that happened.
I've always said that if ND beat Southern Cal for the National Championship, it would be the best day of my life.
I guess that's what happens when you're the third generation of Southern Cal haters in a family... alli | Email | Homepage | 06.29.05 - 2:16 pm | #

Critical game- OU Texas- Both arrive at the Cotton Bowl undefeated; one arrives at the Rose Bowl undefeated.
Critical for us- ND Pitt- Weis has had 9 months to prepare for this one, and we can't go to Ann Arbor deflated. How does the veteran offense start the season? Can the D-backs stop Palko?
Wingnut upset- Fresno St. over USC- Pat Hill's Bulldogs will play anyone, anywhere, anytime, and they'll probably beat them too. And someone out of nowhere will beat USC this season...hopefully ND gets there before Fresno. Brian | Email | Homepage | 06.29.05 - 2:31 pm | #

I'm not saying this is going to happen, but I won't be surprised if it does.
Wyoming over Florida in the Swamp. Chuck | Email | Homepage | 06.29.05 - 4:53 pm | #

Now WE would weep if that happened. For our own purposes, we hope it's eight thousand degrees with near liquid state humidity in The Swamp and they let eight-year olds grain alcohol into the stadium; the uglier the crowd, the better. Orson Swindle | Email | Homepage | 06.30.05 - 12:15 am | #

Disturbingly enough, I agree with your critical game picks.
The ND-Pitt game will be huge for both teams right out of the gate. Chas Rich | Email | Homepage | 06.30.05 - 10:14 am | #

BC grad (and blogger) but fan of your blog. As Michael noted on my blog, I picked ND over USC as my wingnut upset of the year. ATL_eagle | Email | Homepage | 06.30.05 - 1:56 pm | #
