You couldn't at least put ND ahead of Bowling Green? Where is the love? Andrew | Email | Homepage | 08.24.05 - 4:50 pm | #

Yes, my wife is a BG grad...where is the love????
Do you know how unbearable it is around the house to live with a B. Green grad whose team consistently outranks ND's in the polls the last few years?
It takes every concilliatory and loving bone in my body not to divorce my lovely bride of 16 years over the BG / ND rift in our house.
Oh...and I graduated from Indiana U....that only makes matters worse compared to BG or even ND. John B. | Email | Homepage | 08.24.05 - 5:26 pm | #

I think that things will even themselves out as the season progresses in this blogpoll; the nut jobs will stick out more or less like sore thumbs by October or November.
Think about it, most years by season's end, the top 5 to 10 teams are pretty well undisputable in everyone's minds...maybe someone has a team at #4 and another has the same team at #5, etc. but the top ten teams are usually pretty apparent by November.
You can usually make a case for any of these top ten teams being located give or take a few spots in a poll, and usually there are 3 or 4 legitimate #1's in most people's minds, or at least 3 or 4 teams who you can make a legitimate argument for #1 (remember last year, Oklahoma, Auburn and Southern Cal and how all three were 'legitimate #1's' at regular season's end? Auburn fans were screaming that SC had too many close calls, SC fans said they retained the title until they lost, Oklahoma fans said they could take SC (HA HA), etc.
But then, that is what makes this type of poll so fun...and what makes a playoff soooooo necessary. John B. | Email | Homepage | 08.24.05 - 5:31 pm | #

I take it you are picking Pitt to beat ND in the season opener? If not, then surely you should rank the Irish ahead of the Panthers. Right? Paul | Email | Homepage | 08.24.05 - 7:16 pm | #

Whoops, sorry, my bad. I missread your post and took the BlogPoll to be YOUR poll. I see now you don't have the Panthers in your top 25. What sort of support, if any, did ND receive from the bloggers? Paul | Email | Homepage | 08.24.05 - 7:20 pm | #
