Actual quote from Weis during halftime was something along the lines of:

"If they're gonna keep putting 8 men in the box, then yeah we're going to throw on every play."

Me and my buddy laughed so hard, cause he just looked at the guy like he was a complete moron for even asking about it.

Sorry to comment twice so quickly, but in regards to the "blowout", we did catch some really really lucky breaks when their receivers (I think it might've even been the same one) dropped 3 long ball passes that were perfectly or near perfectly placed.

So I'm not too happy with our inability to stop very big plays, and Weis touched on that in his presser.

Luckily the hardest opponent on our schedule features the diametric opposite of a big-play offense, even less so without Riggs. So hopefully this will not bite us in the rear for the rest of the year, but we NEED to remedy it in preparation for the bowl game.

am i in the friggin matrix? great stuff!

Great work! That Passing/YAC chart is really telling and a great tool. Hope CDub either uses it or sees it.

Outstanding analysis! Especially the chart.

Long analysis...good, but long.

Point is that Notre Dame is a confident offensive unit now. When was the last time you could say that?

So now Tennessee will see film and play a lot of bump and run coverage. I cant wait to see Charlie's wrinkle for that game.

God, idle weekends stink...this week has been terrible with no Irish to look forward to.

The chart was great, and very interesting. I haven't seen that kind of data before. Assuming that you listed the completions in the order in which they occurred, then there was a trend that suggests BYU's defense either got tired, or ND adjusted over the course of the game. To show this numerically (eyeballing the data), I divided the receptions into thirds (12, 11, & 11). The mean for the first third was 8 yards per completion, the mean for the middle third was 12 yards per completion, and the mean for the last third was 23 yards per completion. Quite a change over the course of the game.

Pat-- the only thing the chart leaves out are incompletions, so that will skew things, especially as we had more inc's towards the end of the game.

Weis' former players have commented that they looked forward to Tuesday when the new offense is installed for the week.

Keeping it fresh is what it is all about. Every week a new season. Strategically smart, psychologically brilliant.
