Hey, no one forced them to leave the Big east...And now they're starting to get what they deserved, Losing their only guranteed sellout games...Couldn't happen to a nicer university...

Think what you will on our deal with the Big East, but this was a well-worded response by Heisler:

"The commitment we made to the Big East was just part of being a good partner.”

In this context, I also see this as a nicely veiled poke back at BC, who did not act the part of a 'good partner' to the Big East by leaving to the ACC.

Good...It's about time someone stuck it to BC for their moronic decision to leave the Big East...

You don't squat where you eat. Yes ND football is dependant on no one, but every other sport at ND requires the Big East, so it pays to have a good relationship with them given the exceptional circumstances of the football relationship. There was never a real rivalry with BC, but I doubt the administration will rule out playing em forever. Just not under the present set of circumstances.

Plus this way, ND can play a lightweight in the BE, since SoS doesn't seem to matter much anymore.

excuse me, but why isn't having a crap prgm like BC back after they did what they did? Much better teams out there, much classier teams out there. FREDO sucks, and I can't wait to pound them in the future, cuz its been too long to get em back.

I think it’s great that a) we are discontinuing the series and b) we get to play them a few more times with Weis at the helm. It has become a tradition for BC students to caravan out to South Bend and act like assholes on campus (at the pep rally in particular). While I don’t want to go all Pangborn76 on them, it is true that the BC team seems to enjoy doing damage to the field and the visitors’ locker room. This behavior wouldn’t be acceptable from any opponent, but it is particularly galling that our worst-behaved opponents are from the only other I-A Catholic school. Combine that with their unethical behavior toward the Big East and I think it’s high time to discontinue the “rivalry.” And Charlie needs to pour it on 1992-style a few times so that ND isn’t accused of dodging BC.
