What - the three winners don't get that Lou Holtz doll from his Arkansas days that the catalogue can't give away!

News reporting that Fasano will go to the NFL, and Samardzija will be named a Concensus All-American.

I recently took a look at the US Army All-American Game roster. Playing on the team were 10 ND commits - that's a good sign. These players play a variety of positions, mostly offense, and they obviously play well.

For comparison, other schools' showings in terms of commits in the Game:

Auburn - 1
Arizona - 1
Arizona State - 1
Clemson - 2
Georgia - 2
Florida - 6
Florida State - 1
Iowa - 1
Kansas - 1
Kansas State - 1
LSU - 3
Miami - 1
Michigan - 4
Notre Dame - 10
Ohio State - 3 (Including two star players)
Oklahoma - 3
Oklahoma State - 1
Penn State - 4
Pitt - 2
Purdue - 1
Tennessee - 1
Texas - 6
Texas A&M - 1
UCLA - 2
USC - 6
Utah - 1
Wisconsin - 1

By my count, Notre Dame had the highest number of recruits at the game. This tidbit is encouraging, seeing how important recruiting will be in Notre Dame's near future.

spamity calamity

Who pick those players to go to the US Army A-A game? Lemming?

No, the Army picks from consensus lists, but also from a variety of their own criteria.

I heard Lemming picks.

"Notre Dame had a game-high 10 commitments among the 78 participants (conspiracy theorists should note that Chicago-based recruiting analyst Tom Lemming chooses the rosters),"

This quote came fron Stewart Mandel's column this week on CNNSI.

That Paterno tray is sweet. Perfect for serving guests vintage 7up in those commemorative bottles from the 1973 and 1977 championship seasons.

I actually have a bunch of those.
