it'd be great to have Kadous back. It was interesting during spring ball and summer camp how message boards erupted with speculation and ad hominen (not sure exactly what that means but I know it's a kind of attack...sorry, just trying to sound smart, but I digress. I'll google it after I post this) attacks on guys who decided to leave the program. There was a lot of "good riddance" sentiments flying around. It's nice to see a guy taking a reasoned approach to his life and figuring out who he is. How great to have a guy come back after that process who is totally committed (and maybe even fresher fatigue-wise) and mature. That's what an ND education is about.

Amen Andrew. Jez, I had to take a semester off and I didn't play ball.

Time to start realizing these are 18-year olds in a semi-professional world. That's a lot of pressure.

I know the world is kicking Vick right now and I will NOT defend him or his actions. But it is certainly not surprising that a young kid 18 or 19 under those circumstances gets out of waack. It's remarkable more don't go off the deep-end (see Clarett) given the over-professionalization of college sports and the neutering of the academic side of student-ATHLETE.

I say: Graduate 90 percent of your student-athletes - keep all your scholarships; 80 percent graduation -- lose 10 percent of your scholarships; 70 percent graduation - lose 15 percent of your scholarships. 50 percent grad rate - double secret probation.

I know this isn't the answer. But something like it needs to protect these kids and start to take academics even slightly seriously. Otherwise, let's start minor-league football like baseball and ignore the well-being of the kids.

Yago out

I didn't realize West enrolled early. I knew he was thinking about it.

It's, uhh, a little late to decide about enrolling early. Semester starts next Tuesday. I'm sure he made up his mind.

Tackle to Guard? I don't know. Perhaps he can play both? Weis said he would change a Tackle to Guard if he had shorter arms. I see no arm legnths given and can't tell from that one picture. That's the only reason I found in switching a Tackle to Guard per Weis statments. It's really up to Coach not whoever suggested it or a fan writing.

Has it been confirmed that McCoy no longer is considering ND? I'm looking for a direct quote right from the horse mouth, not Tom Lemming or someone else saying what they believe. Anyone seen this?

Eddie - It seems that ND is on the outside looking in. Nothing is final until Signing Day of course, but I wouldn't put much money on McCoy to ND if I were you.

That's what all indications seems to be. Surprising given the type of person he is and what a value he appeared to put on both education and religion. Hopefully the indications are wrong. Time will tell.
