Great list. But I think Zibby's USC touchdown was better than his UT touchdown. Just my opinion.

Great list guys. I could watch those highlights for the next 8 months now and get my "fix" of ND football and get pumped up for next season.

On Play #2 (Stovall vs. Tennessee), watch Darius Walker's block on the first play.

KC - figured somebody would hit us with that. It's a toss-up, imo.

I'd say Jeff's 78 yard catch vs. UT is head and shoulders above the Fasano catch, but both were great.

Also, any way to dub over Boob's voice in the #1 play?

GREAT LIST. THANKS FOR THIS.

I will get fired for watching these at work, but totally worth it, that was great.

Mo Stovall, first round pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2006 NFL draft. You don't think the Steelers staff is drooling over a 6'5" receiver that can block downfield like that?!

Thanks for pulling these together.

Question I've had all year, and reminded of it by Clip #5, the UM game that I attended.

Avant caught the ball as Richardson trie sto make a play on the ball and falls down. Ndukwe ran up to Richardson instead of Avant. Why? Avant blew right past him. Did he think Richardson picked it off and wanted to congratulate him? So what? Not a very smart play.

What a wonderful thing you have done. Articles like this demonstrate the loyalty and love you guys have for our school. Can't say enough good things about your fine work.

Bill - never noticed that before, but you're absolutely right.

Great list.
However, from what I remember with Samardzija's catch on the one. It took till fourth down to get the ball into the endzone. It was not the next play. Weis had the guts to go for it on fourth and 1 and trusted the Irish offense.

On the #1 play, I think Brady's throw is very impressive as well. He's fighting off the rush and throwing off of his back foot as he drifts to the right and still pretty much puts the ball the only place Samardzija could have caught it.

Of course...the catch was unbelievable as well.

CJs - I was sitting with my dad at Purdue on the 10 yard line on that end of the field. When Brady launched it, we both said simultaneously, "overthrown", then did a doubletake as Smarj somehow hauled it in.

You're right, the scrambling of Brady on that play is a nice example of how he was able to evade pressure all year long.

watching those clips makes me remember how much i miss watching notre dame play. cant wait till next season!

Something I noticed about the Quinn USC play, Quinn scores on a QB scramble to the right side late in the game, didn't Vince Young score on a QB scramble to the right side late in the game against USC? The only problem was that when Quinn scored there was 2:04 to play and when Young scored there was only :19 seconds to play.

!#%!@#! Poodle, Leinart, and Reggie Bush! We had that game!

My favorite ND moments were all of those close up shots of Brady Quinn's sister during the OSU game.

She rocks!

What a lassie!

(I think she was too cute to get into ND, if you know what I mean.)

Watching the clip of Brady scoring against USC made me forget, if only for a few seconds, that we lost that game. Thanks for putting this together.

Joe, unless und.com is wrong, P-N scored on the next play:

N 1-10 P42 QUINN, B. pass complete to SAMARDZIJA for 41 yards to the PUR1, 1ST DOWN
UND.
N 1-G P01 Timeout Purdue, clock 08:58.
N 1-G P01 POWERS-NEAL rush for 1 yard to the PUR0, TOUCHDOWN, clock 08:54.
FITZPATRICK kick attempt good.

The 4th Down one comes at the beginning of the 2nd quarter.

Hey Mac a.k.a. Seamus, knock it off.

one of the classics was brent musberger waxing on about how ohio state was a wonderful academic institution along with notre dame. how many of their players know it's ohio state university and not the university of ohio state? in fact, how many of their students know that?

I loved it, what about the Shark's TD catch @ Mich when it was deflected.

In Shark's catch against Pitt you can here one of the commentators saying that you won't see a better catch then that ever, and then Shark comes out with an even better one against purdue

Why do commentators always say Zibby "isn't the fastest guy around". Name a play where someone outran him.

What is the rule they are talking about in the "pass right" clip...you're not allowed to jump or something?

great work fellas. this list was a bright spot during a cold, dreary day in allendale(near grand rapids). i love it when u can hear the p.a. announcer say "michigan touchdown" oops, too bad. Samardzija’s TD catch vs. USC was also $. again, top notch work guys.

John, the rule used to be that after a receiver caught a ball they were not allowed to jump in the air to avoid a tackle like Fasano did in that play. Luckily that rule was changed a few years back.

No mention of Walker totallying wiping out a blizting Vol on the first play? Big block from Darius.

I agree with ND101...I will watch these like crazy until Sep.

Really enjoyed this. Think you got all the big plays.

Can't remember the last time I was so sad to see a football season end.

Clashmore, scroll to the top. Look at the 3rd comment.

I GOT GOOSE BUMPS!!

I love the "3-for-1" in Play #2, especially Shark's catch and the impact on the game.

Listen to the Stanford one again; what a couple of buffoons! It starts off with Jackson, "“1:01; plenty of time.” PLENTY OF TIME?!?! Keith, not 5 minutes before you said, "For the win" on Stanford's extra point. Then Fouts is even more idiotic. He makes a comment about Walker getting helped like Bush/Leinart. WHAT!?!?!! Are you watching the play Dan? Walker gets in because of good old fashion effort/smarts in stretching the ball low (not high, Asaph) over the goaline. It's not until after he's in that a couple linemen fall onto him.

While I love this list, there's one play etched in my brain that I can't get rid of ... 4th and 9 ... UGGHHHH!!! I can't wait to play those jerks again.

Does Darius Walker remind anyone else of Emmitt Smith...strong, not the fastest guy but who really catches him from behind, smooth, great blocker and can catch out of the backfield....

One comment that I have about Brady's touchdown run against USC - He sure looked like his knee was down before he stretched his arm across the goal line. If instant replay was in effect this game, they would have reviewed it, and overturned it. More time would have burned off the clock, and the Irish would have had two plays to put it in from the 1/2 yard line. Could have been a different outcome. If...

Thanks for the Mooney to O'Hara pass.

Unbelievable post guys. Keep up the good work.

I also agree that Zibikowski's punt return TD is easily my #1 play of the year. Zibby's breaking tackles was not unlike the movie Tombstone when Wyatt Earp was not being shot and kept saying "No". These plays were fantastic though - again, great job.

The Walker run against Stanford was great, but you should have included the 2pt conversion. The direct snap was a call of genius, and has since become a PS2 NCAA 05 favorite play of mine.

Thank you, Thank you!!!!!

Cheaty McSweatervest

Clip shows usually suck, but as usual, BGS excels. Thank you for the off-season fix. I haven't been this excited for an upcoming season since... well, this past season!

Best.
Post.
Ever.
Thanks.

I just went back and looked at Darius Walker's block on play #2. That block alone is worthy of inclusion in this list. How do you choose?! Great job, guys. That's all I can say. Go Irish!

Zibby's punt return against USC was definitely #1.

I still can't get the 4th and 9 play out of my head.

See you at the ND/Michigan game

Great clips & ditto the comments.

Does anyone know if a season highlghts is in production ala the 80's & 90's?

I noticed that you gave an Honorable Mention to Travis Thomas' 16 yard TD run in the SC game. Look at that one again, I thouhgt it was Charlie's Call of the Year. He went unballanced line with Ryan Harris moving to the right side. SC was VERY confused! Charlie @ his "A-GAME!!"

Samardzija to the 2 at 21-21 against UT might be the biggest non-scoring, non-4th quarter play I've ever seen.

Thanks, that was excellent!

How about a list of the top 10 moments (non-plays) during the season? Obviously there wouldn't necessarily be video for each, but it would be an interesting list. I am thinking of moments such as the Navy tribute, the Holly Rowe sweetheart comment, the Lewis Johnson BYU halftime question, the USC locker room visit, etc.

On #7, the Shark catch--is that the same TD he forgot to hold on the XP? That, in retrospect, was pretty funny.

What a needed fix for the doldrums of January.
Thanks!!!!!

Just watched #2 again; WOW!! The block by Walker is awesome. Guess he learned his lesson after Navy when Brady threw a pick becauase DW got pushed back into him on a block.

The O-Line blocking on the Shark play is fantastic.

Zibby's punt return was my favorite play of the season. As such I offer it here for you viewing pleasure (click on my URL link to access).
