Great post, you guys.

Bettis truly is one of the best ambassador's for the game and for the Irish. You hit the nail right on the head.

Excellent post. Good job capturing the man & the player Jerome Bettis.

Keep up the great work.

"We will respect (Bettis' and Carter's) decision and wish them well," Holtz said when reached by telephone. "I hope they still realize the importance of a Notre Dame degree, and will pursue it vigorously. When they receive their degree, I will be satisfied with their decision.

Jerome would make a really good "student assistant" next fall. I really think that the Notre Dame degree would be good thing for him as a role model.

bettis made me proud.

montana was an embarassment.

i will never forget the screen pass he caught from mirrer in the 'snow bowl' vs PSU. that play is often overlooked in light of the spectacular 2pt conversion that followed.

How about the block that the Bus put on the Seahawks #1 linebacker to spring Roth for the TD? Big Ben barely got in, but without that block, he would have gotten crushed. That's the way you play the game!

One of my favorite memories of my student days at ND was watching Jerome play in Bookstore Basketball when he was back on campus in 1996. He was always smiling, laughing and joking with everyone, with no shred of bad attitude.

I'm happy to see things work out so well for such a great guy. It would have been nice to see him score last night, but maybe it's more fitting for him to have thrown the key block on the Steelers first TD.

And one of my favorite memories of my student days at ND was when my Bookstore team got waxed by Jerome and the rest of "Models Inc."

Way to go, Jerome!
Happy Retirement.

There's got to be some way to get him to come back and play his final year...

Congrates to the Bus and to the whole Steeler organization.

By the way, great photo of Bettis with Hines Ward, one of the classier guys the current NFL has. Now with Bettis gone, Hines will have to wear the mantle that the Bus is relinquishing.

Imagine if he would have played in '93. We would have walked to the NC that year, because I have no doubts that he would have had no trouble ensuring the win against BC.

Click on the URL link I provided for clips of Bettis at the 92 Sugar Bowl. (But this will only be up for about a week).
