You know, even though they're Florida fans, I gotta hand it to them, that is one hell of a site. Kudos to them.

And most of the commentors aren't too bad. Except for the inevitable, "Your best win was a loss", the "UF beat UT when UT was completely healthy", and the, "Most of your points against UT were on Special Teams" (which, despite being originally from SEC country, apparently don't count in SEC head-to-head matchups).

They don't count, actually. Strange rules quirk down here, like the rule that TDs scored in the third and seventh minutes of a quarter don't count, either. Keeps the scores low, and makes the math easy!

Eh, its an opposing site, so I go in expecting a few shots. But I have to say that overall I thought it was a great read. They do give Weis his credit, and of course they are going to give the edge to Meyer, so I can't complain. All in all, I think both teams got the right coach.

Yeah, I agree with Patrick......we just got the better one.

Amen, Brad! Amen!

How come there are so many people over there that don't know how to spell? Is it a result of drinking the swamp water or something? The articles are good, but the comments sometimes have the little kid trying to be cool and eat at the big kids table feel.

So is BGS going to put their own spin on the Charlie vs Urbie comparison?

Yeah, I think we're going to do a little back-and-forth with EDSBS, like we did before the season. Any comparisons/contrasts we should point out?

How about how the spread option sucks, and is nothing but a gimick offense that will never work in the SEC?

Oh yeah, and that Charlie, due to his natural girth, would whup Meyer's ass in a game of Hungry Hungry Hippos.

As for our comments section...there's quite a few ND posters with a spelling disability, too. Be willing to give posters the benefit of the doubt, as most are probably typing comments with drinks in their hand and doing so very, very quickly.

It should also be noted that Stranko has a wicked spelling problem, and is certainly one of the smartest people we know. We, on the other hand, spell immaculately and often write things we later weep after rereading.

Kind of off the subject, but was Meyer on the ND staff that implemented the spread for the FSU bowl game (with Krug at QB)?

It is kinda difficult to type with a mason jar of 'shine in one hand and one of those ridiculous gator hats falling over your eyes.

As for comparisons between Urbie and CDub, how about the fact that Charlie implemented a NFL offense over the summer while Urban, in the same time frame, couldn't get his players to learn his (as evidenced by the fact that he had to change to a "conventional" offense in order to win)?

Also, Charlie could literally eat Urban and still have room for fries, dessert, and a six-pack of Budweiser.

It should also be noted that several comments are probably posted while at work, like myself right now. This would acount for some of the grammar problems as well, since we are forced to type quickly in order to not get caught. On that note, I should stop this post as my boss is right next door. Look forward to the next post guys.

"It is kinda difficult to type with a mason jar of 'shine in one hand and one of those ridiculous gator hats falling over your eyes."

Some might say it is equally difficult to type while chugging an Old Style and balancing an undeserved sense of accomplishment. Bragging is reserved for bowl game winners and 9-3 seasons where victories over the Naval Academy aren't considered your finest hour.

They are a funny pair over there. Like The Onion, they are entertaining. But, there is rarely any nutritional value to what they produce. Like Chinese food, you get hungry 10 minutes later.

DCGator -

Nor are victories over LaughTech and dem der Wyomin Cowpokes. Great job though. Don't break your arm patting yourself on the back for smokin those BCS caliber teams. And let's face it - bragging is only reserved for the National Champions, PERIOD. The bowl system is a joke. And come on....FU plays Western Carolina next year. Who are you kidding?

Paddy,
Perhaps the Gators have a functional bye week when WCU comes to town.
But this doesn't really strike fear in my heart either.

October 07 - STANFORD
October 21 - UCLA
October 28 - @ Navy (Baltimore)
November 04 - NORTH CAROLINA
November 11 - @ Air Force
November 18 - ARMY

Geez, how will Charlie ever muster up enough motivation to get the Irish through this stretch...

I like their site a lot. I actually more or less agree with the commentary that was substatnive they posted. I think Meyer got more out of the D then Weis did. I think they were also right in giving credit to Strong (don't want any going to Mattison, a previously class act went out in a bad way). Weis got a lot more improvement out of a bad offense than Meyer did.

Not sure where the overall will come out, but at the end of the day Florida expected to be no worse than 9-3. Before the season started only our most optimistic fans expected us to be 9-3. I would have liked to win the bowl game, but such is the way it goes.

I think they had better athletes returning across the board (not a code word for more black players) as well as more experienced players in the secondary (why we did poorly against spread offenses) so on balance I would say Weis did better.

EDSBS is a funny site, and a great read.

I don't know how we'll get through that stretch either but the Master Motivator will find a way! Those academies are tough man. [please note heavy sarcasm]

For one, and correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't UCLA like 10-2 last year? Now, I don't think that exactly the greatest team in the world, but they could certainly hang in there with Western St. Directional Tech. A&M anyday.

And I wouldn't knock the academies. Tough teams, year in and year out, regardless of their record. Having watched them play ND for the past 2 decades I can say that I have nothing but respect for them, and I'm not even including what they do for our country. I've never seen an academy team give up, even for a second. Tough, smart, disciplined kids. If ND (or any college football team with more talent) played the game the way those kids do, they'd never lose a game.

Granted, we didn't win our bowl game. But winning the Outback Bowl against an unranked Iowa team, and doing it with major help from the officials, isn't too impressive either.

If at the beginning of the season UF fans were told that they'd go 9-3 and win the Outback Bowl, would anyone have been happy? I'm guessing no.

Wasn't UF ranked in the top 25 at the beginning of the season? Where was ND? Not to mention the "lack of talent" everyone said the Irish had. 9-3 was a great season. And ND would have been 10-2 if we wouldn't have been selected for that darn multi-million dollar BCS bowl instead of basically playing a home game against a down-and-out Big Ten team.

DCGator - I'm more of a PBR guy, but thanks for bring up Old Style. I figured they went out of business once I graduated from high school and could afford real beer. Nice to know someone still drinks it.

Wow, nice backhanded compliment, HP. We should just run over to heismanpundit, where we'll all get full and never want to go back.

I have fewer pet peeves in life than someone who doesn't care about the quality of what they say or write, which is why typohs, grammer and badd speling really get my goat. The larger, mass boards (on Scout, Rivals, even NDNation et al) are a hotbed for the scribbled pestilence that keeps Mrs. Hallihan awake at night.

Most Scout/Rival boards are replete with idiots, since the WYSIWYG editor has a preview button. And while the EDBS comment box does not, it does have a built-in spellchecker.

FYI, as all y'all may have realized, The Fieldhouse uses the HaloScan format with the preview option.
