That play might be the most entertaining college football moment I've ever seen live. I clearly remember seeing that game on TV when I was 5 and promptly named my next hamster "Irv Smith". Coincidentally he ended up being built like his namesake.

While we are posting great ND video, check this 5 minute gem out. There are some great runs here by The Rocket as well as a few of the best plays of the 05 season...

um . . . wow.

I think I see a push... or a pull rather :)

Is there anyway to download from youtube or is that just a watch from the web type thing?

just watch it from the web, good stuff on there. I think he was attempting to strip the ball, so I'm not sure if you could call an 'assist' on that play.

One word....Goosebumps!!!!

That was the first game I saw as a freshman. Good times.

What clip? I see no link in your post.

Phil, click the picture.

Who in He!! put the "clip" play on a video. Breaks my heart watching it.

We played Irv Smith's section in intrahall hoops. I tried to foul him as he went up for a layup. Not smart.

He'll always be the strongest man on the planet to me.

I'm confused, that doesn't look like Notre Dame Stadium, but why ND wearing the home uniform?

I remember it well. Good times, indeed!

I remember the Irv Smith play like it was yesterday, eventhough i was onl 9...good times

Tom, I hear you. It was my first game too. We thought that they'd all be that easy. We came home after the game and promptly passed out for a few hours. Then back out to tailgating. Irv Smith was a hoss.

It was for the Susquesentenial (150 year anniversary), I believe. The Admin put some insignia in the endzones.

can dick enberg please cover nd games again?

That was my first game as a freshman also (The "shirt" was almost baby blue with yellow outline of the basilica). Best part of the day was that my cousin, and arch family rival, was a freshman @ IU and was sitting next to me.

Anybody remember the run against Michigan (I think it was Tony Carter), when he busted so many tackles in route to the end zone, before getting nailed and knocked unconscious as he fell across the goal line for the touchdown. I think the game ended in a tie, but that was the greatest run I've ever seen. I'd like to see a link to that one.

I'm pretty sure the run against Michigan was in 92 and it was Reggie Brooks.

My first game as a Freshman, too. Great memories!

That was the first ND game I ever attended (as a freshman in '91)
and it is easy to see why I became
forever an Irish fan. By the way,
let's get IU back on the schedule too! Peace.

Why add IU? I'm a lifelong Irish fan, and a student at IU right now. All it does for you is gives you a win (that will be whined over by people who want our BCS spot) when we (and I'm talking as ND here) win, and would provide a program highlight win for IU if they could ever knock us off. It's not like it really helps our strength of schedule or anything. But if Hoeppner ever gets IU up to somewhat competitive status soon, I couldn't see the harm in playing IU then instead of, say, North Carolina, Duke, or one of the service academies not named Navy.

I too think it was Reggie Brooks.

It was Reggie Brooks, and Scott I too was an IU student and lifelong ND fan. We had huge weekend drink-fests known as the IUSFNDF (Indiana University Students for Notre Dame Football).

P.S. When I was down there, we were the No. 1 party school. You guys are slippin', what gives? Do your part, and fulfill your duty as a state-school student by getting drunk by 9........in the morning.

Of course it was Reggie Brooks. What was I thinking? Must of killed off more brain cells than I thought last night, as I watched Duke and Gonzaga kill my brackets!

Irv Smith was second string, but got a lot of PT that year...also ended up as a first round draft choice - one of 4 ND first rounders that year (Mirer, Bettis, Irv Smith, and Tommy Carter I believe). Let's hope our second stringers this year are future first rounders.

Hey Brad, we've held the #1 party school at least once since I've been here. These magazines just aren't coming on the right weekends, that's all.

Touche, Scott, touche.

its stuff like that that makes me happy to be a ND fan!!!
