Godspeed to Justin Hoskins.

2007 looks pretty scary from this vantage point. It will be a whole new team.

But it's not a development that will come out of the blue. Weis and his staff know what's down the road. We should expect freshmen to see a generous amount of playing time in '06, especially towards the latter part of the season.

When he was with the Patriots, Weis often had to replace injured or traded players with untried and unheralded substitutes. They always delivered. Weis prepares in depth. When 2007 arrives, he'll be ready.

2006 reality is a BCS berth again. Aim to win the bowl game.

2007 is very scary. Could be a hiccup year - so cue the media with more Charlie/Ty comparisons. Ugh.

2008 could be the title year if the kids mature fast from 2007 and the psyche isn't damaged.

On a different matter. Does anyone know if the Blue/Gold game is going to be carried on the UND website?

I guess Charlie won't be bally-hooing the graduation rate in the next few years.

The Blue/Gold game is being aired live on the Irish Shinny Dome Pay-Per-View network. A contribution of $2,500 to the University and a monthly fee of $45.99 will entitle you to live coverage of all ND events, press conferences, a live feed of the Monogram Room, etc. You'll also need a "Lucky Charms" converter box ($56.99) and a Kevin White Bobble-Head Doll (18.99) as well as a new watch set to Eastern time. If you are a member of the Sorin Society, you don't need the doll.

Funny...not helpful, but funny.

Blake my son, I wish you luck. I am glad you appreciated the humor, yet beyond the facade is real angst at our Lady's university for nickel and diming us at every chance. Tuition, annual donation and $50 per ticket plus handling fee... and now they want to charge us for press conference transcripts, which, by the way, are free to the media.

Like Seinfeld in "Death Blow" I plan to sneak a video camera into the game and broadcast the scrimmage to the world. Now, I just need 7000 feet of coaxle cable and someone to distract the Andy Frain.

Though I understand the obvious frustration with the increased fees, I do have quite a problem. I unfortunately will not be able to attend the BG game, which is the first time this has happened in roughly 8 years. Does anyone know if there is any way to get film/video of it? I doubt it due to the bullshit scouting/rights/universitymumbojumbo but is there anything I can do about this?

Yikes. Well, at least we can play the "Playing Time" pitch during recruiting. Now, how many recruiting points are we allocating to Jimmy Clausen--Send The House or Head Coach Visit?

I'd choose Send the House with Coach Prestige. Steep points due to location, but could be very effective. Spend the rest on DT, DL, and TE.

NCAA Football 2006. EA Sports! If it's in the game, it's in the game! And the Irish are always in the game. (yeah, I know that's Ty from NCAA 2005, but still. . .)

Damn your headlines...now we have the REM song "Lightnin' Hopkins" stuck in our heads...LIGHTNIN' ONE! LIGHTNIN' ONE!

I'd have Clausen committed during "In Season". Bring him for a late season game. Run up the score and pitch him the "Coach Prestige." He'll commit early.

I have a job and a life. Really! I do!

SeanH,

We are sad, pathetic, gloriously over-dedicated fans. Admit it, accept it, embrace it.

Can't wait until too late in the season though. I lost my last 5-star QB and two CB prospects in 2017 because I wanted to bring them in late in the season and the only home game I had was the last one against SC. All three commited to other programs before I could bring them in, even though they had scheduled visits.

OK, maybe I don't have a life, but at least on my Xbox ND is working on their 9th straight National Championship (damn those Buckeyes). That's some small consolation, right?

JohnWA, that's why I always customize my schedule so I have the majority of my home games at the end of the season. The beauty of being my own AD...

(heck, I created the school--Chuunichi University Dragons, on the beautiful island of Kauai, Hawaii...)

And no, I have no life--I have a 3 month old, and NCAA in coach mode is about the only thing I can do while feeding him at 3 AM...

I have had to pull BYE week visits before if recruits had other visits scheduled. Learned that the hard way after I lost 3 players before I could get them in.

For some reason I can't recruit DT's. Just like ND.

Honestly, I can't either. What is with that?

I've done the same with the BYE week visits, but actually got a commit during one. Weird, huh?

Sorry guys, didn't mean to hijack the thread and make it into a NCAA 06 discussion, but seriously, we all know that's how we survive the off-season...
