was that green behemoth at the end of the second part of the Q&A coach mendoza? you only see "it" for a split second, but holy...

Hah! I went to a St. Ed's dance in that room, the night I proposed to my wife!

Things going well for us, so hopefully good things will start for Jimmy in that room too!

Loved the thanks to Jesus, that's classy. Seems like a good kid, although I have no idea what's going on with his hair, he's fifteen years away from Ml Kiper status.

Editors: I have pics posted on flikr from the game. http://www.flickr.com/photos/sea...9/sets/1703978/

Let me know if you want the full versions of any for a photo album.

Thanks Sean. Nice pictures. When we put up the rest of the photos, make sure to link your album again in the comments section.

That is badass. Pumped me up.

FU Usc. You hear me? You are fucked.

Nitpicking, but I didn't like how when asked about his major, he said "I have no idea" like it was an afterthought. I guess it's probably OK for him though, because he has a great chance of playing football as a career.

i'd say a good deal of high school juniors don't know what their college major is going to be. the way he answered could have been less brash maybe, but i wouldn't dwell on it for too long, matt.

Thank God for Charlie Weis. Of course everyone is probably like no shit, but in comparison to the asshole down at Florida right now, Charlie is a god.

Weis, as has been proven, is superior to Urban Meyer in every facet of existence (maybe Meyer is more attractive, but we're not gay here). Weis's smash mouth style of recruiting is much different than that of Meyer's, which I think is piss poor. I don't know if anyone noticed this weekend, but Meyer apparently convinced a very talented tight end out of CT to switch his commitment. Who does this? Does Meyer resort to relying upon other coaches' evaluation of talent and then sneak in and steal players? I seem to remember that, after seeing Raeshon McNeil put the lockdown on everyone at the Army Bowl, Meyer attempted to lure him away from Notre Dame, but did not succeed in doing so. Weis is obviously a better recruiter, he finds guys under the radar and the big names that he like he goes after very aggressively. Did anyone see Clausen looking at Florida at all? I think not.

But who gives a shit about Meyer? Notre Dame loves Charlie, and I am looking forward to a recruiting class for the ages.

I also cannot wait to see Pete Carroll piss his pants when Notre Dame comes to town this year, and even more so, in years to come.

Anybody hearing the news off of ESPN.com. Apparently, Reggie Bush's family was living in a house paid for by an NFL agent for all of last season. 24 hours after a reporter from Yahoo Sports approached his mother about it, they vacated the house. This could lead to a retroactive declaration of Bush being ineligible for last season, and having to forfeit all their games. The Pac-10 has asked the NCAA to investigate:

I wonder how sports agents sleep at night... Probably after they grow tired counting their money.

Swimming in those walk-in safes is good exercise, Sean.

how great would it be for usc to have to forfeit all their games last year and bush give back his heisman? what would they even do?

i think this is one of those situations that would just look SO bad that they'll have to just explain it away and agree never to talk about it again. would have been nice to see, though.

That's got to hurt recruiting...

Just a note about Clausen's comment on his future major at ND, I really don't see how that's a big deal at all. I mean, in all honesty, how many of you knew what you were going to major in at college when you were a junior in high school? In all likely-hood, those who even did wound up choosing a different major. Hell I didn't declare a major til I was a junior IN COLLEGE, and then wound up getting two. No one should expect a barely 17 year-old kid to know what he wants to do with the rest of his life (and no, that comment does not refer to football).

While I too am excited the way Charlie has attacked recruiting, two words keep coming back to haunt my dreams of National Championships - Ron Powlus. Nothing against Ron, I just got the feeling that the offense did not play to it's full potential under him. Almost like they figured he would do it all. The closest we've been to a NC since 88 was 93, with Kevin McDougal, a guy that the whole offense liked and wanted to play for (if you believe what the books say - "What it means to be Fighting Irish"). I truly hope this kid keeps a level head and follows Quinn's example. If he does, it will be a great 4 years.....

Trying to get some more posts up, but blogger is being crabby this morning. Hopefully soon.

I was not the biggest Powlus fan but honestly under Lou and Davie he was wasted. He was a drop back passer who was asked to run an option offense. I am not going to say he would have won the Heisman under Coach Weis but he definitely would have developed more than he did.
Based on system alone Clausen, Frazer and Jones have a better chance of succeeding than Powlus did.

Let us not forget the two broken collarbones Powlus suffered before he even played. That type of injury on a throwing arm can really mess things up.

As far as the QBs go, "based on system alone" I think I'd have a better chance at developement than Powlus. I say that only because I really do, in my heart of hearts, believe taht somehow Charlie could make even mere Brad into a great QB. I don't know how, yet I still think he could. Seriously, though, of couse these kids are gonna be better off running (or even just learning) Weis's offense. No offense to Lou or those that followed him, as I loved him to death, but the offense ND's been running the past 15-20 years belonged to the 1960s. It in no way could prepare a QB for the NFL.

In what robot factory was this kid engineered? Seriously, he looks like Drago

J.C. at QB for ND? Do we even need to show up this season?
