Great picture. Did you happen to notice that JLS threw his hat down but the official wasn't close enough to appreciate his tantrum. So he picked it up, ran over to the line judge, threw it down again right in front of the guy and starts the whole process again. At that point, I think it was Herbie who said something like, "You're yelling at the wrong guy John L."

Davie's commentary was downright ironic. The best was his comment about the megaphone--"I didn't even know we played for a megaphone, but that might be because I never beat Michigan State" or something like that. Wow, Bob--genius. Every time he says "wow, that's not something I'd do" when Charlie goes for 2 or on 4th down or something, it just reinforces Charlie's worth in my eyes.

I also liked how Davie said before the game that MSU was a different place to play at night. If you recall, the time that Davie's Irish played a night game at Spartan Stadium, Bob looked at the depth chart backwards and started his tight end at quarterback. Oh, Gary Godsey. How soon until Herbie just punches Davie or Cheeseburger in the throat?

Looking at the ND broadcast schedule, there is no way around it, I’m going to have to listen to that idiot Bob Davie during the USC game. I have a couple of months to find a therapist and get some help for my urge to leap through a perfectly good TV and beat the living crap out of him. I love it when Musburger calls him ‘coach’. I suppose Davie has a kid playing Pop Warner ball and he’s coaching him. Thus the title ‘coach” it can’t possibly refer to the five ugly years at ND?

I will give John L. an A- on follow through and aim for his throw.

The ball fake that Quinn executed on the 4th down pass to Carlson was a thing of beauty - ESPN had a great shot from the endzone.

Richardson upended Stanton on a blitz on Saturday. Its actually a good call vs. the option. Richardson takes QB. The linebacker scrapes to pitch.

This was the first Irish game my girlfriend had the ability to watch with me. I had to explain to her why I kept turning the sound off on my TV every time Boob started to say something about "when I coached against MSU....". She knows very little about college football and she turns to me after one comment and says, "Seriously, how did this guy get a job broadcasting Irish games if he couldn't even beat Michigan State?" Priceless.

And just to demonstrate how bad a coach Johnelle is, she says at one point when MSU was still up, "Why doesn't he just keep giving the ball to that fat kid (Jehuu). The Irish obviously can't tackle him."

I was in the student section for ND/WVU in 1997. Amos Zeroue was absolutely hammering the Irish in the first half and WVU had a lead. I think he average 7 yards a carry in the first half. Inexplicably, Don Nehlen(sic?) decided to "mix it up" and Amos got about 5 carries in the second half. We kept waiting for "that quick little sh*t", as my then girlfriend now wife called him, to get the ball. It never happened. ND came back and won.

It is amazing how many coaches seem to forget what was working when they go into the locker room at half time.

On the 4th and 1 play fake, Jeff S. ran a crossing route that brought the CB into the play. I'm curious what the play design is, simply because if that CB isn't dragging, Carlson goes for 6 (or at least down inside the 20 if he's caught). CW said that play went for a TD twice in practice, which is why I even bring it up.

cdwag, that's a great point & I noticed the same thing. I wonder if JS was supposed to go the other way.

Has anyone noticed that other than the first INT in the UM game Brady's throws to Carlson are spot on while he is eratic when throwing to Rhema and JS? It is like he knows that Carlson can't make circus catches so he concentrates more.

I think you guys are crazy. I love the fact that Bob Davie announces games and that his moment by moment reactions are available for my viewing pleasure. It makes a final victory that much more sweet. I can only hope Ty joins him when his contract is not renewed in Washington, and we can be treated to a chorus of their timid, bewildered bleatings before Weis delivers another stunning blow to the hated enemy. Beat your tin drum little drummer boy! The Army is on the march!

Along with being an ND grad I as well grew up in NH and am a Patriots fan. I found it eerily troubling on Sunday night to see Tom Brady vs Denver making throws in the flat where his receiver had yet to turn or else numerous throws well wide of the WR. It seemed like a timing issue between Tom Brady and his WRs, with results similar to a number of Quinn's early throws vs MSU. Anyone else see this?

Gotta agree with iNDy...as bad as his announcing is, there is a sense of comedy with him, from his incessant discussion of the wind to clock management. The irony is delicious.
