We really need 7 on our opening drive today, make a statement. Hopefully the O line is fired up to redeem themselves...

But with a few 3 and outs I wouldn't be surprised if we're only up 3, tied, or even down at halftime...

Finally, I would be VERY worried if Hampton was healthy...

so, i'm going to be in the office this afternoon. anyone know if it'll be possible to listen to the game online? i'm going to see if i can find a westwood one affiliate list and find someone that has an online feed. however, if anyone knows off hand - that'd be super.

Here you go Ryan. This link will give you the audio of the game. You will need to use Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 in order to get it to work, but I'm guessing that isn't too much of a problem.

Our running defense is looking good...???

Navy hasn't thrown the ball, yet they are moving down the field pretty well.

allright! brady checked down to darius over the middle, when the LB's left the area. That didnt happen against UCLA and increased the sack count. Good job of getting the ball out of the pocket!

Quite a workout today for the D........god Lambert can hit.

looks like they worked on quick decision throws over the week. One of the reasons Brady was effective last year, quick slants and checkdown throws in the floating middle zones and in the flat.

Richardson plays off his man ten yards and still is nowhere around him on the catch....cripes

Is our run "D" bad because of the LB's or the D-line?

TT gets the carry! and a TD!!! nice sub, eh?

TT on the TD.... thank you... common sense is back.
Hopefully we do this against USC again.

TT is actually playing well on D as well today but our safeties and corners are not coming up to stuff it like they should. all the problems are on the edge.

this defense is so bad, i actually do not not want to see it in a major bowl game. sick of being embarassed.

man, they are killing us on the edge!
just once, i'd like the D to NOIT wait til the 2nd half to put it all together. sheesh!

mike, they gave up like 230 TOTAL yards last week. the D HAD been playing very well up until today....

Is it me, or does Minter realize that 95% of Navy's offense is running the ball? Put 9 or 10 guys in the box. Stop the run and make them throw it.

games like that should be the norm for a top 15 team, as good as last week was its the 30+ point games, and 21 gaes against a tea like purdue, and the failure to stop the big play both this year and last year that makes it a disaster waiting to happen. this team hasn't done anything this year to make me think that it can winn a big game, and I don't mean a big game tha only became a big game becase they dragged ass for 3.9 quarters. Would love to be proven wrong in LA though.

helluva throw, helluva catch

Damn, I'm almost glad that the game is blacked out in Columbus. Our D looks pathetic enough on Gamecast-- I can't imagine how bad they look on TV. Giving up 200 rushing yards in ONE HALF to a service academy is pretty pathetic, although I'm sure the polyanna's will be raving about another stellar "half time adjustment" by Minter when they finally figure out the obvious and stop the run in the second half.

hey scott, stating a fact does not make one a "pollyanna." and the FACT is that minter's D improves significantly in the 2nd half. i too wish they would start the game that way but for whatever reason, they don't seem to put it all together until the 2nd half.

Giving up 200 yds to the #2 rushing team in the country (that was first or third the last 4 years), with a system that you see only once a year. I'd say you're doing OK.

i was gonna mention that as well, paul but i figured i was being a enough of a "pollyanna!" ;-)

For some reason, blogger was being a bit buggy the past few hours.

Kindly move all game related posts to the game time post above. If you don't see it, hit refresh on your browser.

Try to keep all real time reactions to the game in that post. Gracias.

Paul,

Rutgers beat Navy 34-0. Rutgers, yes, that's not a typo...34-nada. Sorry, but I'm not impressed with our "D". And, I think the blame falls squarely on Minter. I don't think for a minute that Rutgers has better "talent" than ND.

Brian,

What do you expect? Navy has lost to us since 1963, obviously they want to put an end to that.

Dear Navy,

Thank you for being the finest naval force on Earth and protecting us from crazy Islamic nutjobs. Thanks for being our punching bag on the football field for 43 years, too.

GO IRISH!!!!

Great stuff as usual. I have a theory that we start slow this year because we are not running physical pracitces. Weis doesn't want to risk injuries to our paper thin team, but the flipside is that they are having trouble starting off at "game speed" and getting into a physical mentality from the get go.
