Beat USC!

Just watched Mark May and Craig James state that Booty will throw for over 350 on us and that BQ won't be the best QB in the game tomorrow.

Anger rising......

Here's hoping that CW is recording all of this......

Is is Saturday yet??

Yeah, James also said that the tailback from Arkansas is a better football player than BQ. They were totally dismissive of Notre Dame and acted as if the game was a mere formality. They should call their segment "Dueling Assholes".

I read every one of those quotes and laughed out loud at nearly each one.

Beat SC.

It's the Friday after Thanksgiving, I'm having a wonderful day, watching football in between tryptpohan-induced comas (aka naps), when I'm subjected to ND-haters #1 (May), #2 (Saunders) and #3 (James), all on the same set at the same time. As they joke about ND's defense not having a chance at stopping the same SC offense that "beat up on" us so bad last year (aside: what would they have been saying had Wooden had his hand 2 inches lower and knocked down that 4th & 9 pass?), my blood is starting to boil with rage.

Then, by some blessing from above, I am reminded that these three jackasses have absolutely no bearing on what happens tomorrow on the field. I'm reminded that we have Brady Quinn, Jeff Samardzija, Rhema McKnight, Darius Walker, Tom Zbikowski, Maurice Crum, Derek Landri, and - oh yeah - Charlie Weis all on our side tomorrow. Thank the Good Lord we get the opportunity to fight this one on the field.

GO IRISH

You forgot this little gem from McKay:

On his coversation with the devil: "Here's my soul....now where's the football glory?"

There is a great NFL Films compilation of McKay qoutables. Its funny in print, but the man even had great timing and delivery! Too bad he worked for the bad guys.

I skipped every single halftime show today merely so that I wouldn't have to spend my day off getting pissed at the announcers. NONE of them are giving the Irish a chance...and that's fine. When was the last time Mark May was right about anything? Now if he was saying we'd win by 14, then I'd be worried.

And yes, it's amazing that instead of "OMG, what an amazingly clutch pass from Leinart to complete that 4th and 9 and keep the Trojans alive," it's, "Look how bad the Irish defense is."

After a 14-0 loss to 'SC, Stanford's coach, John Ralston, said "Even though we were shutout we almost got 'em."

McKay replied "How can you 'almost' win a game when you don't score any points?"

guys, this is why I read this blog. Great work and great introduction to a time when real men walked the earth. Italian Army... classic. You can picture the scene.

I never really paid too much attention to Mark May, primaily due to knowing that he needs us to make a living. However, on Friday, saw he and James and Saunders outright dismiss Notre Dame's chances, adding "they better find a defensive backfield inthe next day" and "they're just not going to win." I've never heard that said before, and it is actually a compliment to us. You can feel the hate coming off the set. And the more that I see of Saunders, the more that I'm seeing someone who 'Kramer' could be taking legitimate shots at ... he spooks a sport set!

Go Irish

There is a fear growing. It happened in 1977. I remember getting kicked out of Algebra class in HS after we won the NC that year for arguing with a Mich fan on how we didn't deserve it.
If we win, our traditional fan base will rise up and demand a seat at the NC table. And these guys fear that. It's the only way to explain how our loss hangs like a scarlet letter while everyone else could dismiss Ark.'s.
I don't know if we will win today, but I do know the team will play their heart out. The stars are aligning just as everyone imagined (Come on FSU - wash my mouth after that). Destiny........
