I'm excited about this pick up. Golic is ND through and through. I hear his work ethic is top notch. That offensive line just keeps getting bigger, which is a great problem to have.

Mike Golic, Jr:

I remember your dad and uncle well.
Hope you can break out of their shadows and fame.

Looking forward to watching you on Saturday and hopefully after New Years Day.

Set your own path to follow and your own goals to obtain.
Good luck, God Bless, Welcome aboard Mike.

Golic has another son who's a soph right now who is supposedly another top flight prospect as well. Hopefully the family connection continues

Wow, this seems like an early commitment. Does ND offer many Juniors this early? Either way, I like it!

ND has offered around 20-30 kids, depending on how many kids are being truthful when reporting offers. That number is a little bit higher than last year, which reflects both the organization and work ethic of the ND staff when it comes to recruiting and the overall acceleration of the recruiting process in college football.

I believe Kerry Neal was the first commit last year, also in February if memomry serves.

Well, now its on to pondering where the 4 stud DL and 4-5 stud LBs will come from. There are some great linebackers in this class, several of whom are likely gets I think.

My guess is we get a couple more guys between now and the end of BG Game weekend. It will be interesting to see if CW's "no soft verbals" policy slows down the process at all.

I wouldn’t worry about this kid’s weight. As a junior in high school I weighed 165lbs., pushing 6'4". I would move and then my clothes would begin to move. He’s still in a growing stage.

I’m not so sure I would make a public commitment before playing out the senior year. I would be afraid of having the reputation as the fastest gun in town, if you know what I mean.

I would promise Charlie that my commitment is solid but silent, and that I will avoid everyone else, letting it be known that I’m not interested in playing college football, that my mother insists I attend Harvard; no visits, no media, and the number you called is no longer in service.

It’d be nice to get another center like Fane.

Good going Mike Jr, and Connecticut! One of my best pals at ND was QB at Northwest Catholic (Jr's HS).. a few years ago. May your career at du Lac be like your dad's and uncle's, both great guys.

Go Irish

With all due respect Judge 60, I disagree with your assessment of Mike Jr. decision.
He obviously does not need a campus visit or any information about Notre Dame.
I would guess he knows all he wants to know about U$C, UM, etc.
The decision frees him of distracting phone calls, coach visits, and mailings.
He can concentrate on his senior year of playing, maintaining his grades and chasing girls.

It appears that Coach Weis has a new set of rules and it maybe best to learn and follow them early.

I suspect with his name he’s been a marked guy since Pop Warner ball, no worry about fastest gun there.
It maybe that he intends in enroll early, the apparent option taking hold in college football, even at Notre Dame.

BTW it’s Faine, but I doubt if Jeff cares.

58 days and counting.
Go Irish.

Charlie said no soft verbals, if you commit you commit. I think Mr.Golic is committed. We enjoyed watching his dad and his uncle (who along with Bob Crable are the two best LBs I ever saw at ND). When you have a legacy like young Mike and you have a chance to continue that legacy there is no other place to be. I believe we are going to enjoy the Golic name for a while again at ND. Go Irish! Go Mike!

he's committed... the golic's bleed blue and gold

The recent focus on the word "committed" reminds me of an illustration offered by an obscure Texas high school football coach, attempting to explain to his players why he wanted them to be "committed" rather than just "involved":
"It's like ham and eggs -- the chicken's involved, but the pig is committed."

The Golic Family is glorious. Welcome to the program, young Golic. His uncle's best work was clearly on "Saved By The Bell: The College Years".

"Florida's Junior Day" might be known to many of you by its more familiar monicker of "Comrade Meyer's Reeducation Camp".
